Rockstar has confirmed the existence of an unlisted change in the most recent GTA Online patch, which halves the amount of money you receive from repeating missions.

Though the change come into effect on Friday, Rockstar's only just acknowledged its existence as it wasn't mentioned in the original patch notes.


"For those of you inquiring about mission payouts, there was a change that reduces payouts by 50 per cent after a repeat of the mission," the studio explained on its support site. "The first time you play and beat the mission, you will get the full amount. Subsequent replays will see a payout amount reduced by half. This is to keep the game balanced as well as encourage the exploration of new missions and content in the game.

"We understand players do like to enjoy a mission multiple times, so rather than remove the possibility of doing so, we've allowed replays of these missions at a reduced payout. Many players can get very good at a mission and beat it much faster in consecutive tries, so we've adjusted these payouts to match that case.

"We apologize that there was not full clarity about this in the patch notes; however, hopefully this note will clear things up. If there are any additional questions, please do not hesitate to ask."

While that's undoubtedly sad news for some of you, on the plus side the developer has revealed it's investigating the possibility of making NPC missions replayable, though this won't be made a reality until another patch is deployed.


Considering Rockstar recently announced all GTA Online players will be receiving $500,000 in-game to apologize for multiple launch issues, it's possible this is a move to stop everyone getting too much too soon.

I hate to be cynical, but you can't help but think they want to limit money production in the game to try and sell more of their real-money cash cards. Yeah it's business, I just found it incredibly strange that Rockstar would go that route after seemingly bashing that sort of thing. I suppose Wu Tang said it best with "C.R.E.A.M."

I don't get some of the lame fools that play this game. The point of the game is to play missions to level up.

My brother keeps telling me he found an activity that can give you a lot of RP in less than a minute. He then asks why I don't join him in doing this activity over and over and over again.

I then proceed to tell him that glitching is no fun for me. And he goes on a rant about how he's not glitching and that he's farming. "Glitching = using an exploit" So I give him this example so his brain can understand what I'm trying to tell him.

Glitching/Farming = using an exploit. It's like you're dating an ugly girl, but she's rich. The only reason you contine to date her is because she's rich even though she's butt ugly. That's called exploiting her. It's similar to what you're doing in the game.

Hit level 60 tonight and unlocked the grenade launcher. This is going to be fun.

I'll be right there with ya by tonight. 4 more levels to 60.

We'll definitely be using the RPG on some of these tougher, new missions we're getting now.

I hope rockstar make more clothes, tattoos and hairstyles so that we can have different looks. The clothes selection is pretty limited in terms of silhouettes and hairstyles are pretty boring.

They are supposed to be releasing new clothes and tattoos soon. Which I'm both excited and skeptical about seeing as the clothes choices they have so far is pretty bland. I do have hope though.

As far as hair styles are concerned I would assume they would release more styles but on this subject I have no clue.

That's awesome news. I wanna make my guy look more gangsta both in the grove street style and in a mafia style way.

Also wish we could have some necklaces and general jewellery.

Yeah I feel very similar to this. My first problem with online was that they patched the replay button right off the bat (even though they officially announced that they encouraged farming). Then they patched the RT/R2 restart (which felt a bit cheap to use to me personally as this did feel like an exploit but you still had to earn the money by doing the missions).

However the actual exploit went completely ignored until the most recent patch (I won't name it but what all know which one I'm talking about).

And then they go and nerf payouts on missions even the legitimate ones that can take upwards of 30+ minutes to complete on hard and you sometimes end up losing more money then you end up getting back (such as stocks to docks 2) which basically kills any replayability of missions for me (seeing as I've played most of the missions already) and I can only race and play death match and survival so long before I get bored. So I've stopped doing anything but the occasional free roam once in awhile until the heists drop or they add new missions.

It is really feeling like a money grab though (I guess unless your one of the people who glitched) because now making $50,000 takes forever now unless your doing something along the lines of spaming survival.

That said I still enjoy the game and think it has a lot of potential but I can see the interest dying down relatively soon especially for peeps like me who have only been playing this game with all their free time (I've easily clocked 90+ hours so far).

I have my guy dressed in slacks and a black vest with a red undershirt on with an lcd watch on but that is that closest I've gotten to the Mafia style of dress. I wish they would add smaller rimmed versions of the Fedora cause right now it loks like a floppy mess. I agree some new choices would be great though.

I want **** like a pea coat, the ability to wear boots with skinny jeans, some more colours, some plaid shirts that can be worn open and jumpers/sweaters, baggier or longer t shirts and we definitely need the black dreads to actually r black not grey.

I'm a casual type of guy so I'm normally in an all black suit. Definitely need more colors and styles. All white suit would be on point. Why we don't have the clothing selection that's in story mode. Franklins suits are sweet.

I'd love to combine all the options for the story guys and jar some extras. The absence of
Caps that can be worn backwards is frustrating. I want some ball caps and ****.

Yeah the lack of hat selections annoys me to no end. The beanies in my opinion look terrible (at least for my style of dress) there is only one style of bandana only difference is the color. The ball cap selections for backwards and forwards is terrible. And like I said the fedoras look messy. So some new hat selections would be great.

It's also beyond me why they don't allow a bandanna over face for a mask selection. Yes it's simple but it's such an iconic look.
