Re: Grand Theft Auto V Online

Today the Beach Bum pack hits. I'm at work so won't be able to check it out.

I finally played for about 45 min yesterday. I didn't feel like doing any missions, so I simply just started blowing cars and 3 minutes later, I'm 5 stars and everything is coming at me. I'm in my Coquette and I just drove around blowing cops up and running away from randoms trying to kill me.

At one point, a random started following me. I noticed he was friendly, so we played follow the leader with the cops chasing us. I went through a bunch of jumps with him following behind. It was hilarious when I would miss a jump, then about 4 cops car would go flying above me or seeing one of the big patty wagons or Degranger crushing the top of my car.

We did this for a few minutes when another random tried to spoil the fun. He ended up killing my new buddy, so I tried to extract revenge, but with 5 stars on me I couldn't do much so I just drove away. My new buddy eventually met up with me again doing more jumps. Then about 3 other randoms joined and they all started killing cops too. Then some random came in a heli who tried to join the fun, but a random wasn't having it so he shot it down, which then created chaos within the circle of randoms around me. I managed to get away before the killing spree happened.

I've been on 5 stars for about 25 min now, and I notice that I'm just getting RP every 10 seconds or so. So I kept driving until my car was damaged enough that it wouldn't start. As I stalled in the middle of the road, a patty wagon was blazing down the street. KABOOM.

Re: Grand Theft Auto V Online

So disapointed with the Beach Bum DLC.

The 30 new missions (which I haven't even seen that many) are all the exact same "missions" (races, parachuting, etc) in different locations.

The 3 new vehicles are okay. The van is kinda cool with the shark paint job but even still no unique mods and is performance isn't great. The golf cart looking thing (can't remember the name) had great handling but that's about it, some unique mods but nothing especially impressive. The new dune buggy looks cool, has awesome stats, is really fast for an off-road, and has a couple cool mods, it was the only one that was somewhat worth replacing my Rat Loader.

The new weapons..... the SNS (Saturday Night Special) Revolver is pretty cool but it's a complete novelty item since it's still nothing compared to the AP pistol. The Broken Bottle was terrible is exactly like the knife in every way.

The clothes have added a couple cool Tank Tops and Shorts (all already unlocked so all you have to do is equip the items) a few new sunglasses (not my style). The only thing that really caught my eye was the new hats they added since I was wanting a Fedora with a smaller brim. They aren't exactly that BUT is close enough to make do.

All in all very disappointed since we are STILL waiting on heists that were to be "released within two weeks of the release of online".

Re: Grand Theft Auto V Online

Well I didn't really expect much from this DLC. I mean, it's free, so what's there to complain about?

If they charged $10 or even $5 then I'd be mad, but it's free content.

I'm sure someone in here will post "They should have had this stuff in the game from the release!"

As for the missions, I don't think R* was talking about missions you would receive from characters such as Martin, Lester, or Lamar. The "new" missions are just new races or deathmatch maps. I'm interested to play the new survival map.

For some reason, no one ever likes playing the sawmill survival map. Not sure why.

            *edit*

I'm sure this will get a lot of people's panties in a bunch. but the new patch has removed all glitch cars (Yay!) so any tanks, or jets, or cars that you glitched into your garage will now be an empty space.

I've also heard that some races that people were abusing were nerfed with the $ and RP they awarded.

Criminal Records being one of the races.

            *second edit*

I just read that they didn't nerf the payouts for races. What they're doing is rewarding you if you're a good clean racer. The more times you ram other cars in a race, the less $$$ you'll get rewarded.

I would agree with your point about it being just fine cause it was "free DLC" if heists being released within the first few weeks after the release of online wasn't something that they promised before GTA 5 was even released. It was one of their biggest marketing angles from the get go was the ability to "play heists with friends" and things like the content creator.

Rockstar Games, Rockstar, Video Games, Games, Gaming, Grand Theft Auto, GTA, GTAV, GTA 5, GTA Online, GTA+, GTA Plus, Red Dead Redemption, RDR, Red Dead Online, PS5, PlayStation, Xbox Series X, Xbox Series S, Xbox, PC Games, Computer Games, Home Entertainment, Home Gaming, New Video Games, Videogames, LA Noire, L.A. Noire, Max Payne 3, Max Payne, Vice City, San Andreas, Liberty City, Los Santos, Vinewood

That link from Rockstar near the very bottom is just one of the many places that they advertised these things within a few weeks.

So in that respect they really dropped the ball. If EA has taught any company anything it is don't make promises you can't keep. So while the DLC was good for being free, it's utterly disappointing seeing that we are still waiting for the big things to be included (mainly heists and the content creator).

All that to say I think we all would have rather they had waited a bit longer to officially release online until most of all the bugs and glitches were worked out that way they weren't wasting all their time scrambling to salvage what they can of their product to a much smaller playerbase that is still around (since a good chunk has left for the ps4). I have the feeling that once they do finally release heists it'll be so far down the line that only a handful of people will care (which is sad cause GTA: Online was really fun until I ran out of fun stuff to do that isn't just messing around in free roam).

As for the missions I was not expecting (hoping yes, expecting no) missions from Martin, Gerald, etc. I was however expecting a little more variety from the quick job missions (things like Top Gun and Crooked Cop).

Even if they add heists I won't come back. Too little too late for me and many people I'm afraid.

I was excited for the heists and the content creator but not anymore.

Luckily for me, my expectations for the Online Portions were low since GTA has always been known for it's SP experience more than anything and that I've had no major or even significant issues with either portion of it.

Soon as the other stuff gets released, I'll be back on it(still am on it but moreso the SP portion)as will plenty of other folks as well.

I didn't think GTA4 (or even RDR) online was anything special. I think once R* started touting ideas and features of Online people started seeing the potential and bought into the Online world that R* wanted to create. The bad thing is its only half-way there and I think that's why people feel a little let down.

It's a classic case of over promise, under deliver. If they had kept some things closer to the vest, they'd be much better off as far as consumer expectations. They came out swinging for the fences with the online gameplay trailer and hit a solid double.

Exactly. It also doesn't help that Rockstar with every update is pushing the game towards forcing people to buy fake money with real money. I mean they actively nerf race payouts now?

Hell I was really looking forward to the content creator but that's nowhere to be found anytime soon. It's whatever. When they drop the content that makes it more interesting instead of a grind I'll be back on.

I actually think that this is the biggest problem 100%. Had half the promises Rockstar made, that they haven't been able to follow through with, were never touted especially as being "within the first few weeks", everything would have been just fine. In that scenario while some people would still have some disappointment, it would in no way reflect what the disappointment factor is now that everything is said and done.

Let's be honest here. Online was not a "free feature", it was something that was used as a marketing campaign to sell GTA 5 (so it's just as much a free feature as Madden Ultimate Team to play it you still payed $60 for it). The release for online was one of the biggest failures in releases I've ever seen (and we have seen some mighty bad ones). We have to deal with having lost characters, vehicles, money, etc. along the way, while they are making it ever harder to make money legit while glitchers get to drive around with chrome adders and $10+ mil in the bank at all times with no punishments. Even up until yesterday people were able to drive around in Chrome tanks glitched into their garage.

And even after all of that, online still could have not caused mass disappointment if all these promises had not been made that they just couldn't deliver. Heck I would have even respected it if they had come out and made a statement simply acknowledging that they took on a task bigger than they realized and therefore fell behind schedule on their plans.

Instead they refuse to even acknowledged heists when asked. The best bet would have been to say "Hey we got all this DLC planned but it's gonna take some time to get it out there so please be patient". Instead we got "Hey we got DLC, heists, and content creator within the first few weeks", to, "Umm heists, we know nothing of these heists. -r☆ sowly tries to back out of room-".

*shrugs* I got more than $60 value out of my game. And I'll play heists when they come out. Whenever that may be.

Even without heists, I have more fun playing this online with other people than any other game I've played. This is the game that finally got me to buy a mic.

So the new dune buggy is legit. It's hella fun to use in the new beach races. The other vehicles, meh.

The few beach races I did last night were fun. Racing down the beach having water on one side as a nearly constant hazard is cool. Lots of jumping small coves and stream inlets. Hazards of tight turns and beach rocks can send you flying into the water if you're not careful. The races have always been fun on GTAO so no real surprise here.

The pier survival is nice change of pace. It's colorful with all the lights and lots of corners to hide behind. It's not an easy map at all. I played three matches with a friend. We found a great spot to hold down for the non heli rounds but couldn't find any adequate cover for the helos when they did come. One match, I tried to climb the stair case on the roller coaster and got kicked from the match. A wide open staircase that you're not allowed to climb past the first level is bad design.

Some new colorful tattoos, new hair styles are average, more bikini colors for the ladies.

                              It's free, I didn't expect much.

Just like any other game, you make it as much fun as you want it to be.

I was playing Survival the other night and I got bored, so I went into my quick settings and changed my taunt to drink Pisswater. I took cover and started taunting, drinking beer after beer.

After the 3rd one, my vision got blurry.

After my 5th one, I started to walk funny and chased my teammates all around the map as they laughed.

After my 8th one, I got dizzy and fell to the floor and passed out.

I woke up about 2 miles away before getting kicked out.
