7 additional hours of game play, after the possible hundreds you could sink into single player? Man, sounds like a real waste of $60 there....

And if you're next argument is "I wasted my time", after you've experienced all the problems you've had, KNOWING they were very possible if not extremely likely; maybe next time you should just wait until you know things work properly and are not broken.

Or maybe not do a wide release that makes other aspects of the game glitched?

That's the important thing here. If online didn't work but single player was still fine, I'd be like "Everyone stop complaining and play single player. We all knew this was coming", but since it's ****ing that up too I totally get why people are so frustrated.

Re: Grand Theft Auto V Online

Just checked in on the game and I'm also having to recreate my character.

Anyone found any good information on what exactly is going on besides what we suspect and kind of know ? I just want to know that they are working to fix it. With as much money as the game has made, the budget and bank roll is there to call in whatever type of resources are necessary to fix this ASAP.

That's just my .02 cents. I get that you can't prepare for everything, but not being able to access anything is a bit sad and sloppy.. even as much as I love Rockstar Games.

I guess it's the disappointed fan coming out in me. I'm on vacation this week and wanted to cash in before the weekend, when I head out of state.

I'm going to be a dick here, but I don't feel bad for people who lose all their progress in a game. It's 2013. If you haven't learned to have at least a 2-save rolling system for saving your game data, that's on you. Everyone's been burned at one point or another by a patch or just general file corruption. This isn't a new concept.

Re: Grand Theft Auto V Online

No issues switching characters playing single player for me. Maybe because I never got passed the first race online?

Either way it sounds like staying away from online is the smart thing to do for now. Do not need progression being hampered or saves being ruined.

The online portion of the game not working does not surprise me at all. We were warned of this before the game's release.

What does surprise me is how bad character creation is. Sorry to beat a dead horse but it's that shockingly bad to me.

I really dont get the point of the tutorial/race intro. It seems to be the problem. I had to recreate a character just now and it randomly decides to send me directly into a map with other people in it so I thought it was working fine. I reload just to make sure and this time it sends me back into the tutorial and attempts to launch the session and gets stuck as always.

Agreed, but why would you risk your single player files at this point knowing they could get corrupted?

Someone posted on another site that if you switch to single player and save before shutting of your console your character won't be lost.

I'm into the main part of online now and it's pretty fun. I like the way that you can jump between sessions quickly if a room empties out - it's like it's MMO, but at the same time isn't. And it also pulls people from all sessions to do the missions, races and such so hopefully there won't be a long wait time.

Already had my owned car jacked by someone who killed me, but since I could see it on the tracker I just had to go back to it and get it back (running over that ****er in the process ). I also had the insurance option, but it looks like that doesn't work if someone's actually driving the car around in the same session as you. Leaving the session and going to a different one would probably get you the car back.

Can tell I'm going to be spending a lot of time on this once everything's stable.

Right? I initially thought the heritage aspects were going to be questions to fill out a background, but this shaping your player through 2 generations is really cumbersome to try and get something worth rolling with.

Cloud servers are currently down for me. Meh, I guess I'll play a couple games of NCAA for a bit.

Idk R* gave me a prompt while getting dropped multiple times yesterday that it would send me back to single player and turn off my auto save for me. I havent had any issues in single player switching between characters or anything. Maybe turn off your auto saves to prevent corrupting.
