War Thunder - PC - PS4 Launch Title

They need to do something about kill stealing and also about collisions. Tired of getting taken out by guys that are obviously trying to ram into your plane because theirs is nearly down or simply inferior.

Yes, I forgot about collisions, although I am a culprit sometimes, as we are heading straight for each other I tend to stay shooting too long and windup colliding with my opponent. But I understand what you mean, the only advice I can give is try staying away from them, as their plane is in trouble they should have a harder time turning, but because of team kills, intend to try and finish them off in a hurry and get to aggressive which in turn gets me too close where they can ram into me.

So far, I'm about 2 weeks in as WT member. Some things I've noticed. On-line during the weekends, the number of battles run around 80-90, 1500+ players. During the weekdays, around 2'oclock est, you're still playing most of the times 15 vs 15, about 40-60 battles. Not bad. One of the nice quirks of playing on the EU server.

Many are beginning or ending playing at a battle level 2. We get additional maps such as the African Canyon, Berlin Suburbs, Cliffed Edge, etc. and are playing against a higher caliber flying level. During level 1, I would see some 8 ranks as a high number. In level 2, I've seen 14 ranks, a higher classification of fighters.

<i>Tip: When you die, look at the scoreboard. Know which players are gunning for planes. See how they attack. Triangle key brings up your components gamers card. Learn!!!!</i>

My rank as follows.

1- US - I'm too partial. I'm a USAF Vet. Still, I love their speed and endurance.

2- Germans - Fire Power, takes a beating, excellent engine controls.

3- Russians - Who can easily be number 1 and will probably be in the end. Sheer Fire power, excellent maneuverability, and high engine tech.

4- Japanese - Like the "mosquito" What was that? A Mitsubishi engine? Fast, and the ability to hover on a dime. Hover right over a target and attack it. But oh the "punches" to the body. Falling apart everywhere.

5- British - Read Quint's report. Good Intel. Good spirit, light muscle.

I'm considered a mid area group player. More than likely, death occurs before the end of the match. Here is a Feb 18 video of a spectacular showing by my German planes. I scored 1 plane kill and 17 ground destructions. It netted me atop the leader board for the winning team for the first time and you bet ya, it felt great! My only regret was losing 2 planes.

<b>I've stalled somewhat on my US team but they were clearly my choice going into round 2. Here, my medals below. We accumulate for each country. Go check and see what medals you've unlocked. These have helped me with a fleet of 5 US planes, 2 of which are bombers at the moment. Oh, and no, I didn't unlock Italy.</b>

Firstly I've had this game installed for almost a month now and haven't even touched it. It looks like a lot of fun but F2P (P2W?) kinda keeps me away. I'm all for free to play games but when you just throw balance out the window to generate a profit (pay to win model) it kinda of ruins the game (Think TF2).

Secondly is everyone saying this game isn't out on PS? Because like I said I've had it installed for at least a month.

I'm really glad sony is at least trying to be more open about the console (like it should be) allowing games like Dust 514 and this to not only be on their platforms but also be cross platform. More games and consoles need to do this.

And now my important question. Is this a game you can just pickup and play or do you sort of need friends to play it with?

This game is not about realism....
....and while you can do microtransactions....you don't need to.

Definitely a pick up and play game.
It's just for the fun of shooting someone down....and perhaps some team play.

You don't need friends really. I haven't had any friendly fire issues with just strangers(not even sure if you can shoot team planes or not)

One of my favorite moments happened last night. Guy was doing a head-on pass with me, looking for a collision. Fired 4 rockets straight into him, took him out instantly. First time I ever tried rockets like that. I think I laughed for 20 minutes.


Edit: Did this again today. So, so satisfying against the knuckleheads who love to collide.

Did you know if you're badass enough to submit your captured video to War Thunder, you could get Top 5 plays?

I have seen those. Some are spectacular, no doubt. And I am definitely not badass enough to get on the list!



In other news, I have pretty much decided to concentrate on Britain as my country. I now have 3 Spitfires, one of which (the Mark IIb) has a cannon, which is just lethal. I am now researching a Hurricane II to go along with my Spits, Hurricane and my Blenheim. Eventually I would like to have a stable entirely made up of Spits and (someday) and an Avro Lancaster bomber. That's a long way off.



But the British planes give me the best combination of speed, maneuverability and firepower which fit my particular play style the best.



Still working on Japan so I can get my A6M Zero...

Been meaning to ask: is there any way to use voice chat in this game? Typing messages in the middle of aerial combat is a bit beyond my skill set. Got my new headset but don't see a way to use it.

Searching their website for peripherals, it doesn't sound like they do. However, I think its implemented with higher premium accounts. Not really sure. Head started hurting when I was trying to think of the password and email account I created on EU. So, I gave up.
Wanted to give support a holler and ask if we can.

Voice Settings in Game:

Under game options tab over using R3 to Voice Chat, there you can setup the chat options. I have used a headset and haven't heard anyone coming through other than the PS4s private chat.

Nice find. About damned time it comes out over here. I am hoping all of our planes we have accumulated will carry over to the NA release or I will have a lot of work to re-do. I have a PSN gift card and I am not ashamed to say I will be buying some golden eagles with it.
