Is this game a flying game or much more than that. I seen it on the PS4 FTP section but was not sure tbh.

Much more than that. It's ariel and ground combat. You can check many vids on YouTube or some of the vids posted in the forum to get an impression of how the game is played. It's a FTP MMO game with a large following through out the world.

      Features include:

Cross-platform battles between PC, PS4, Mac and Linux users.

Over 500 historically accurate planes and ground vehicles: fighters, bombers, attackers, tanks, self-propelled artillery and anti-air vehicles from the USA, Germany's Luftwaffe, Italy, Britain's Royal AF, Japan's Imperial Army, and the Soviet Union.

Multiple realism settings allow advanced virtual pilots, tankers and beginners to enjoy the game regardless of experience.

Rich PvE content: historical and dynamic campaigns, solo missions, mission editor, available for single-player and cooperative gameplay.

Excellent graphics and authentic sound effects

Re: War Thunder - PC - PS4 Launch Title

It's been pretty much now a year since I picked up WT at the European store due to the delays of the North American release (released June 6, 2014). Of all the games I've played on the PS4, this is still my favorite of them all. Was it because it's a F2P shooter which I've only paid $4.99 towards strengthening my crew? Is it the number of people from dusk to dawn that play this game around the world? Or is it the continuous commitment towards improving the game by the Devs? Maybe it's the historical accuracies of the vehicles involved during WWII and Korean War or the different number of playing modes? All I know is when my closer blows a lead in the 9th, in The Show, or my team is shooting 30% from the field in NBA 2K, I jump over quickly to this game and take my anger out respectfully. The PS4 users are at a disadvantage is a myth. I can confirm this. And the game still ranks as my # 1 game to play for fun and of course my anger management therapy.....

War Thunder releases V 1.47 "Big Guns" Today.

The name "Big-Guns" reflects the emergence of War Thunder's largest tank, and largest aircraft: the legendary ‘German Pz.Kpfw.VIII Maus’ weighing in at a massive 188 tons (the heaviest metal armored tank) and the iconic American ‘B29 Superfortress’ strategic bomber, with a wingspan of 43 meters (more than the average, modern airliner). Soviet pilots can also rejoice, with the introduction of an early version of the famous IL-2 Sturmovik. This aircraft has been created with 30 separately modeled parts - the most detailed and accurate IL-2 ever recreated in a flight simulator. This exemplifies the new standard you can expect for all future aircraft that will come to War Thunder. Collectively, this update has added 14 new combat vehicles, and has also unlocked the “Steel Generals” American ground forces tree for all members to play! (more than 30 tanks and ZSU).

UPDATE 1.70.1945 "Weapons of Victory" is out today that adds new aircrafts and ground vehicles, a new Damage calculation system and emergency aircraft landing mechanics, new British research line, and so much more you can read about here.

The "highlight" of the upgrade is the new ground maps which includes Normandy, Berlin, and the Hurtgen forest. You could catch it around the 4:15 mark.

Looks like a fun game. Do you have to play vs other human players or do you play against cpu opponents.

Both. The bulk of the game is against other human players. The game offers a few combat campaigns where you can play against the cpu and replay historical battles. The popular battles like most of the Pacific or European campaigns can be purchased from the PS Store (such as value packs) offering more choices.

Not bad, but not difficult. Against the human competition? Unforgiven

Never got in to it... seem too daunting. Is there a single player mode where you can practice a bit?

If you go to Options Menu, you'll find 5 options (Custom Battles, Single Missions, Tutorial, Dynamic Campaigns, Historical Campaigns)

Custom Battles is setting up in multiplayer campaigns so this isn't an interest for you.

Single Missions you can select a campaign and complete the necessary tasks which gives an idea such as flying, shooting, moving about, and focusing for a kill. It's basically a single person playing in some battles that's offered. Just to give you an idea, one campaign had me lead a squadron of US Avengers and drop torpedoes against the Japanese fleet. Both you and the AI mission is to destroy the Yamato Battleship without you dieing. You get points when you complete that mission to help build your vehicle, crew, and pilot/tanker rating.

Tutorial is as it's named. This generally gives the basics like how to fly, how to steer your tank, how to zoom in for a kill, when to release your bomb or torpedo, how to evade. You'll also obtain points towards your skill, crew, and vehicle when you complete the tasks.

Dynamic Campaign is similar to Single Missions but with a caveat. You need to unlock the planes/tanks required for that battle and time period to participate in it. There's also co-op play too.

Historical Campaigns gives you the main battles. Oh, you'll see Pearl Harbor in previous mentions but mostly in small battles. In Historical, you want to attack Pearl as Japan's Rising Sun, fly the skies in The Battle of Britain, or drive your tank towards the Battle of the Bulge? Then this is your thing. However, to play this, you need to purchase the DLC offered in the PS Store which has many prices offered.

                          Good Luck

LOL....Like I've been saying, game keeps getting better and better - can't wait!

War Thunder players will soon be able to destroy the game’s ground environment, according to a new Gaijin dev blog. Previously the ability to destroy vegetation and small objects such as fences and statues was added to the World War II combat sim, but now “wall fragments, ruins, and entire buildings” will be available as well.
