I need to get plugging away at Enemy Within. Bought it over the holidays and haven't started it up yet.

Those Zombie Makers or Zombies that have those aliens inside of them are brutal. They whiped out an entire squad of mine without much trouble. It was a pretty experienced squad too.

Thats the first time I shut the game off so it wouldn't save. I had no idea was I was instore for.

yup they are the worst kind of awful... its like this rash I had once...wait forget I said that.

Chryssalids are the worst they get almost too much movement if you ask me, the good news is that they have no ranged abilities except for the poison.

I had 3 of them bunched up and threw a grenade and it did like 3 damage to each. Then a couple misses from the 60-70% hit range and then it was over. They jumped on one of my guys and turned them into a zombie shredded another one and it was all downhill from there.

Once you get plasma weapons, you will tear through them with ease.

This game is addictive. Any word if they are coming out with any more like this in the future?

On a side note, if the person with the medkit is also injured, I cannot figure out how to heal the other person, it appears to just heal the medic.

No info, but you know they have to have a sequel in the works, just waiting to announce.

It's been too long since I've played to comment on the medic, but you should be able to choose.

They could use this engine for almost anything. Its a great game. You could make a LOTR game, a Star Wars game, WWII. I was even thinking you could make a pretty sweet Civil War game, instead of single units, you would have Battalions that essentially are a single unit like in Total War, but you could move them behind fence lines, into woods, etc.

Although, I haven't done it, its one of those games you could play 10 hours straight. Playing for an hour or 2 at a time just doesn't seem like enough.

Finally figured out how to capture an Alien. I have laser rifles now and 1 MEC soldier with a flamethrower and a Rail gun. Been mopping up the Aliens this go around but I am sure something sinister will be coming up soon, Its only Mid May.

                    Re: Xcom: Enemy Within

The problem is though, is that this type of game isn't popular enough on consoles. Which is why you have seen more big name developers come out with this type of game on consoles. So far if you like this type of game, PC is the only place you will find a lot of games similar to this.

I can't remember the name of the game, but it was Alliance something. But anyway you started off as a rookie pilot, then moved up in rank until you became squadron leader, then captain of the ship, then fleet commander. It was awesome.....The more you ranked up, the more responsibility you were given.

It would be cool if Xcom moved in that direction. Controlling a squad is cool and all, but it would be nice if you could control multiple squads at once and just seen squads out all over the place to hit more sites at the same time. Or use multiple squads to take down one big objective.

Yeah, I have a decent PC rig i7 overclocked, etc. Its a little older now, but all I'd really need is a new graphics card and a little more memory to play the latest games on higher settings.

I'm a wargamer and boardgamer by nature so I like turned based games better. This one is pretty good.

If I could design a War Game it would be a mix of EU grand campaign set between 1700 and 1900 with a turn based tactical battle. I really like Empire Total War, but I would rather have the combat turned based. Thats why this game appealed to me. Imagine a battlefield with horse and musket and cannon, but instead of having individual units, it would be regiments moving around but they could get different cover along fence lines, trenches, mountain terrain, etc. The regiments would be essentially a single unit, but would be comprised of hundred(s) of men. And you could have up to 50 Units on each side on a huge battlefield. It would be glorious.

Anyway, off to play some more Xcom.

Jagged Alliance was the series. That and the 1.13 mod for it and you're in tactical turn based HEAVEN:wink:

But yea, if you really enjoy the TB squad style games & gameplay and want more, start looking into older/pc games like JA2, Silent Storm/Silent Storm Sentinels, Hammer & Sickle, Fallout Tactics, the original X-Com and the sequel Terror From the Deep. Those were on PS1 also. (which is great cause I can throw them on the psp)

What am I supposed to do with those purple UFOs that keep evading me? Am I supposed to shoot them down or track them? They keep getting away or shooting down my interceptors.

When do you know when to try to take out Exalt? Process of elimination based on intel?

Upgrade your aircraft and shoot them down. Far as exalt, yeah it is process of elimination based on Intel. The further along you get, the story will guide you towards actively seeking them out. Exalt base is no cake walk. It is a very large and very long fight. So make sure you good to go before taking it on, because they will bring the pain, LOL.

Yeah, I thought Exalt was going to be a joke (I haven't raided their base yet) but the last group I faced off had some laser sniper rifles. They were no joke they had me pinned down pretty good.

I have a colonel sniper and when she gets in the zone she can take down an army. I have 1 Mec warrior, I assault person with Psionics, the sniper, a heavy, and 2 support. Pretty good team although I lost my Canadian Support Specialist who was my favorite guy on the bridge mission in France. Mad a wrong move and two Mec Sectoids honed in on him.
