          Normal - It's, well...normal gameplay

Survival - Limited resources, faster drain on Environmental protection, tougher combat...you get the idea

Permadeath - Survivor with one life.

Creative - Sandbox mode, more or less. No trophy unlocks.

To give this number some more perspective, because it's pretty freaking staggering:

As of 2016, there were (estimated) 7,442,000,000 billion people alive on Earth. Let's assume for a minute that all of them are physically able to play video games. If you gave every single one of those people an XBOX One, a copy of No Man's Sky, twelve uninterrupted hours a day each to play No Man's Sky, and an in-game means to discover a new undiscovered planet every second for each player, it would take the population of Earth 157 years to touch all the planets in the game.

Put another way: no one on Earth at the start of the project would live to discover the last planet in the NMS galaxy.

This alone has me more interested in this game than anything else.

Guess that means we all need tubes and 24 uninterrupted hours.

That was quick. Everyone was saying about 3 hours ago, but assumed it would he delayed a bit. Glad to see it wasnt long at all! Dont work for 7 more hours so I know what I'm doing, haha.

I don't know how good this update really is, but I will say this is the game we should have gotten way back when, even if they had to hold off releasing it until now.

I'll consider it a "new game" and not hold anything against them when I try it out.

                              No Man's Sky

First attempt on a super hot planet....got torched and had no clue what the hell was going on. Restarted and read up on a few things and then thrown onto an icebox. Mining like a mad man and triggered the Sentinels who called for back-up. Died. Finally figured out not to mine like crazy and then got hit by a blizzard with no cover anywhere. Finally got off the planet and to a space station. Customized my character and ready to head back out.

I'm playing it on the original XBox One and the graphics are fine for me. Hope to get an X soon though.

Since it's likely to be the first question that comes up for anyone who played it before:

To go back to first-person view bring up the quick menu with D-pad down, go to utilities, and select toggle camera view. Can be done from inside or outside the ship. I don't see a one-button control for changing the camera.

Not sure how I feel about third person just yet....I feel like it might be taxing the PS4 Pro a bit too hard because I'm seeing the framerate drop a lot. Could just be the planet I'm on though - constant downpour of toxic rain probably isn't helping much in that department.

Eager to try it out more later on, I can only play for a short time this afternoon.
