I've an Oculus Quest on the way, which I'm super stoked for, and remembered this is available in VR! Just wondering if anyone has impressions, etc.

So it really does seem that this is a whole new game. I have not played since launch. Is it really all that and more? REALLY need something new to play right now. I am going crazy.

It really has become like a new game, and especially so if you haven't played since launch. This page goes over all the changes since then (it's a lot):

<li>Sense of scale - The whole world around you now has scale. Everything around you is much larger. Standing next to your ship makes you realize what your 2D counterparts is missing.</li>

<li>Your Virtual Inventory Menus - You'll be loving how you can pull up your menus when you need to select materials. They did a nice job implementing the menus commands.</li>

<li>Flying - Once you get into your cockpit and take off, you'll have a smile from ear to ear. It's pretty awesome.</li>

<li>Low Pixels & Erratic Frame Performances - Whether playing on PC or the PS4, frame performances and pixel counts are erratic. This means many will be prone to motion sickness. I've heard this is true with pc vr players as well. Many of us PS4 Pro users are hoping for a patch from Hello Games to upgrade the performance, similar to what was done for Skyrim VR. </li>

<li>Whether you're using the PS4 Move Controllers or Oculus Quest Touch Controllers, it takes some getting use to, especially when flying. The PS4 DS4 was very simple.</li>

Man that sounds awesome, thank you for the impressions!

Got my Oculus Quest yesterday for my first real VR experience. Definitely still getting my legs under me, but I'm really looking forward to eventually diving back into this, in VR.

Played the game last night and I can say I’m instantly hooked. My buddy who talked me into the purchase came and visited me and just talked through some stuff. I can safely say that I’ll be playing this game for a long while.

It is literally a new game. It has changed so much! It is easily one of my all-time favorites with hundreds of hours put in.

I've read it was missing story, bases, like everything. I'm excited to find that freighter battle and really get into everything. It's like Subnautica in space and better. Or Astroneer but better. If this leaves GP I might actually buy it, especially since I bet it's get series x updates

One suggestion I'd make for the people wanting more challenge out of the game:

Survival is probably as high as you're going to want to go. There's still a pretty steep penalty for death in the mode - you lose most if not all of your personal or ship inventory (depending on which one you died in) - and some of your technology will sometimes be damaged and in need of repair (not unlike the situation you begin the game in. It can be a pretty big setback considering you can be carrying millions worth of units at times.

I say that because there are still some bugs in the game that can result in death as well and that's a real bummer in permadeath mode. I had my PC permadeath game wiped out by a situation where I got my exocraft wedged in a tight underground cave, and when I got out I fell through the world textures and out of bounds, eventually dying.

Just some friendly advice to maybe save you some frustration. I can still have a lot of fun with the game in Survival.
