The Sports games just aren't doing it for me anymore. They have fallen way behind in the quality department. I used to only play sports games. I missed out on all these great games when they were released. Its a nice break from the sports and no silly broken sliders to worry about.
You are in for a real treat with #2. Probably my favorite game on PS3.

I am not a big soccer fan video game wise but Fifa NBA 2k and The Show are all great sports video games.

I usually do this and in the future going to do it even more. The latest 2 games I bought at full price I regretted. Also another game that's rather cheap and fun is Sniper Elite 2. I enjoyed the heck out of that game.

My favorite cheapies I've picked up:

Killzone 2, LA Noire, Dante's Inferno and Tomb Raider. I think I paid the most for Tomb Raider (20 bucks).

There is certainly a financial benefit to doing this, but I find playing used games provides me with a much greater satisfaction in gaming. I think part of it was buying only new games made me feel a bit like a rat in a wheel (buy a new game, play it to a newer one comes out, then tell myself I'll keep playing it, but months later I would have rarely played it- see the guilt, gaming, and too many games thread). With used games, I have no sense of urgency other than to play the games I have missed. I have also found that most of the big multiplayer games that are older still have a lot of players- currently I still play some Halo 4.

Of course, this isn't a hard and fast rule for me. I bought Borderlands 2 new last year so I could play with one of my friends, and it was great. I buy Madden new every other year.

Currently I have an 360- this weekend I bought portal 2 and Tomb Raider. Just walked in the store and got them both for $30. Both are great so far. My next plan is to find a cheap PS3 and play through the sony exclusives- currently planning for uncharted series, Little Big Planet, God of War 3, Heavy Rain, and Last of Us.

              Thoughts?

Over the past few months I have played Tomb Raider, Portal 2 (single and multiplayer), and Bioshock Infinite on 360. All awesome games. I just picked up Red Dead Redemption and Alan Wake. Didn't really look for amazing deals but they were both $9.99 at gamestop (used a gc). Will play through these for a while, then I am planning to get Rayman Legends and South Park before selling the 360 and getting a PS3.

Have you ever checked out Gamefly for used games? They are cheap and in great condition. No membership required to buy from them either.

Re: Any else play primary used/older games?

I have made a resolution to buy no more new games unless its a sports title that my kids are also getting so we can play online/connected season. If Destiny or Evolve are awesome, I will make exceptions for multiplayer-not falling way behind-purposes.

However, I have realized that as awesome as, say, AC4 has been, I am sure I could have enjoyed the Ezio trilogy just as much for 1/6 of the cost per game (I bought 4 at full retail, trilogy is 30 or less used, possibly even new). I've enjoyed the heck out of Arkham City, and I'm sure I will like Origins when I get around to it at Black Friday prices later on or whatever.

Also, PS Plus has taught me to JUST WAIT for single player games. So glad I waited on Bioshock Infinite, for example, which is now in my play queue for "free".

Between a huge back catalog on current gen, Steam sales on PC, and PS Plus, discipline with spending will be much easier. No more CODs or broken BFs; I have said NO to Titanfall because the beta was enough for me, it was fun but I don't think exceptional. Devs are gonna have to wow me to get my money on day 1 anymore.

Yes, PS Plus has really spoiled me. Bioshock Infinite, Uncharted 3, Borderlands 2, and now Tomb Raider all for "free"? Sign me up.

So far the "free" games on PS4 have been kind of disappointing. We're getting to the point where launch titles should be getting close to the end of their big retail run, though. I'd even take a sale on a couple of them.

I just picked up the GTA PS2 Trilogy (only played a little bit of each game), so looking forward to diving into that.

I'm into the 2007 (and maybe some 2008) PS3 games now. Trying to decide which 2007 game I'm going to get. I feel like playing some car game but I hate racing games...kind of a problem. Hence, I'm thinking of getting Stuntman Ignition, which isn't racing. Looks pretty fun in videos (yeah, I know you need to do the same job several times to get through it/get it done perfect).

Will probably also get Madden 07 (I have 08 and it's not bad, but pretty blurry...can't play it). Maybe I'll get the first AC and the first Resistance. we'll see...

Do yourself a favor and stay far away from Madden 07. NCAA 07 would be the better buy if you're playing games from that year.

I don't think NCAA 07 was released on the PS3. And I hardly know anything about college football, unfortunately. But thanks for the tip.

I have this "thing" for old Star Wars games. Dark Forces, Dark Forces II, Jedi Academy, Jedi Outcast, Rebellion, Bounty Hunter, KOTOR, Yoda Stories, Republic Comando, even X Wing and Tie Fighter.I recently found out I can get Rebellion to run again on my Windows 8 system. Hello building a fleet full of Super Star Destroyers.

I'm noticing that I'm going back and "finding games" that I had no interest in when they came out, or turned a blind eye to them at the time.
