Re: Far Cry 4
I knew why I was shooting and killing all of those people an hour in. Country is run by a dictator and you simply want to remove/overthrow him. Don't know why it would take anyone to the end of the game to find out why you're doing what you're doing throughout the game. Reason I bring up the ending is because it appears to be a double turn kind of which I wasn't expecting at all. That's one of the reasons why I enjoyed the story in FC4. It had an awesome ending in my opinion.Comment

Re: Far Cry 4
I wish every game had left stick driving like FC4. I’ve never been able to drive so well in a game and hold my vehicle in the road as I am on FC4. Traded in some stuff and got GTAV for 2 bucks and could immediately tell the difference. Lol

Re: Far Cry 4
I'll beat this game about 2 months ago and I forgot to post my little review LOL.
I was really disappointed with the story in this game. It's ***. I hated it. If it wasn't for the Outposts and climbing the towers and flying a gyrocopter, I wouldn't have enjoyed it at all.
I'm even scared to play Primal now although I want to. lol
And don't get me started on that Shangri-La b*******. My God those were horrible. I wanted the missions to end as soon as it started. I didn't play any more than I had to.
Pagan min was a disappointment. Beginning and end. Only times u saw him.
The main character basically comes off as a pushover with no backbone. Choose the side of whoever will get the least upset with you. GTFO!

Re: Far Cry 4
I like the story in 3 more than 4, I liked the gameplay in 4 more than 3 (although only slightly, they are actually very similar in game mechanics). Primal is really cool, especially if you like a good open-world survival playthrough, but it's a little bit slower-paced.

Me personally, I liked 3 more than 4; Primal wasn't like 3 or 4 so I wasn't as patient with it.Comment

Dive in and go for it with any of them. You could read through a million responses to this question and sure enough you'd hear from the ones that liked this one more than that one, and on and on. You can't go wrong starting at which ever one is the easiest to obtain, and go from there. Now, you should even be able to play 2 with your XB, right?

Re: Far Cry 4
3 was my first foray into the series. The story was absolutely superb and fun all the way through. I tried to get into 4 and Primal and didn't really enjoy either like I did 3. To each their own.
Looking forward to 5 though!

Re: Far Cry 4
I played them all. 3 and 4 are awesome. Can't go wrong with either one. Hated 2. Didn't care for blood dragon and primal. I thought they were meh.

Re: Far Cry 4
The Outer Worlds: "I am the best game this guy has played this year and it's not even close."
Far Cry 4: "Hold my beer."
Well, add FC4 to a growing list of games I have originally never thought I would ever be interested in playing but who turned out to be absolute gems once I did.
I have never played a Far Cry game before but man what an emotional rollercoaster of a game this was. Finished the game two days ago after maybe a month of play, logging just north of 82 hours and basically doing all the content except couple of Kirati Films "missions" and Shanaath arena fights (Level 3-10).
I have found all propaganda posters, all Yalung masks, all lost correspondence between Robert and Charlotte (and I was genuinely terrified with how their relationship deteriorated over time), all 5 thangkas (Shangri La was generally epic, though I had some hard time during the flying sequences and also during final battle with Rakshasa), liberated all towers and outposts, took down all 4 fortresses, and also finished every mission from the Hurk DLC.
I found the main storyline interesting enough to keep me locked in throughout, and while I did not particularly like that I had to choose between Amita and Sabal all the time (Amita was hot but I liked most of Sabal's motives a bit more), and how they got increasingly nasty at each other, the mission where I had to go kill Amita shortly before taking on Pagan Min shook me to the core because I really did not want to do that.
SpoilerAnd I did not. Thank god there was an option.
The reason why I chose Sabal at the end was mainly because of Bhadra, last but not least because I wanted her to become Tarun Matara. Bhadra, even in her limited appearance, was easily, by far, the most lovable character in this game.
Speaking of characters (especially the side cast), this game got it incredibly right. Bhadra was an angel. Longinus was legendary. Rabi Ray Rhana was hilarious. Same for Gopal (the guy from Golden Path Supplies' quests, though I did not like how his storyline ended, though I liked that he actually had a storyline). Yogi und Reggie, pure a$$holes. Hurk was comical. The guy from CIA was a piece of s**t. Awesome stuff.
As for Pagan Min's sidekicks, I thought Paul de Pleur got what he deserved; same for Yuma (though I did not like the way I got to deal with her). Noore was absolutely awesome from her first to her last cutscene.
SpoilerOnce I got to go after her, I really, really wished, hoped, there was a way to save Noore. At least I did not kill her myself. She did. She probably deserved her fate but I was genuinely shaken by her ending.
As for Pagan Min, he is probably the best and most hilarious bad guy I have ever played against during my brief history of non-sports gaming. Hand in hand with that comes the fact that both the final battle at King's Fortress and the final confrontation with Pagan were the most epic final battle and the best, most emotional ending I have ever experienced this side of The Last of Us. The music, all what Pagan said at the end and how he said it, the revelation of Lakshmana... OMG, the revelation of Lakshmana...
SpoilerBtw, I let Pagan Min escape. First, I thought the whole scene where he boarded his helicopter was pure work of art and second, I was so emotionally drained that I never even realized I could have pulled the trigger one more time.
Gameplay wise, I have no complaints. Once I got the mechanics and controls down, both felt very natural, though there were some mechanics that led to a couple of stupid deaths. I especially loved liberating the outposts, and choosing / planning how I wanted to do it (stealth, rampage, sniper rifle, rocket launcher bombardment, whatever). The missions for Rabi Ray Rhana were also insane fun.
Speaking of Rabi, from his first and only cut scene until the end of Noore, I seriously thought this was the second best game I have ever played. That feeling returned again during and after the ending, but after two days of processing my emotions I can confidently slot Far Cry 4 at my #4, just in front of The Outer Worlds and right behind Nier Automata (by a hair).
Overall just an amazing, incredibly fun experience. Genius stuff.
And I still have Valley of the Yetis lurking in the shadows...Last edited by Executor; 11-25-2021, 07:01 PM.Montreal Canadiens
