Do mods stop me from unlocking achievements? Even smaller ones like the thing that brings up more context for dialog choices?

It doesn't say anything in the press release about that. So I don't know.
Edit: Yes mods will disable achievements.

Also Mercurial PS4 should be coming next month (June).

Yeah, I'll be waiting to use them for a bit. I guess it creates a new profile group or something so your saves are separate....but if you want achievements you have to use one that's never used mods. Which seems kinda annoying, but I understand why. I might just create a new game with a different style of play and use mods on that.

Surprised there isn't more discussion about mods on console. Maybe there will be more when it hits PS4 too or have people just moved on from Fallout 4?

I thought consoles would be limited to mostly simple mods, but looking on Bethesda's site, there's a ton of mods I never would've expected on console. It's actually pretty impressive.


Here's just some that caught my attention:

• Real Nights with Real Lights or Darker Nights
• WET: Water Enhancement Textures
• Full Dialogue Interface - (I used this on PC. An essential mod)
• Improved Map With Visible Roads - (another I used on PC)
• Unofficial Fallout 4 Patch - (unofficial patches are always essential)
• Atomic Radio or WRVR
• Survival Saving - Holotapes
• Campsite
• Enhanced Blood Textures
• Plenty 'o' Exploration
• Tactical Weapon Mods
• Build your own Vault
• Weapon + Ammo Crafting
• Loads of Ammo - Leveled Lists
• Loads of Ammo - Switchable Ammunition Types
• Better Vanilla Shotguns
• Quick Hack and Pick
• Weightless Junk or Improved Carry Weight
• Alternate Start - Infinite Answer
• MOON - Beautiful Replacement Textures for All Moon Phases

My advice would be to not go crazy with a bunch of random mods. Less risk of saves corrupting, especially with no way to fix certain mod conflicts or sort your load order with LOOT like on PC. General load order advice goes: patches, other fixes, overhauls, quests, textures, weapons and armor, misc. Should also make sure to read the mod author's description.

Good post. I heard the traffic for console mods was like 50x what the PC generated for FO4, so people are definitely using them at a good rate.

Yea it took me a good 15 minutes or so just to log on to the Bethesda servers. So I would hold off waiting like 4/5 hours before trying to download anything on your PS4. Also you need to set up a Bethesda.com account if you haven't already. I would do that sooner rather than later.

I haven't beaten the game (or Far Harbor) yet, so don't want to screw up my achievements.

Though I really never look at achievements, so may not matter? Hmmmm

My plan was to play through and then enable mods, or create a new character and play differently with that one using mods.

Yes...i believe it starts a new set of saves that are now marked as modded....

I suppose it's so people don't cheat to get achievements. Kinda makes sense, but I'd love to just use some simple UI type ones that don't do cheats...

I dunno...it's why I'm hesitant now. Once I beat the game I probably won't care and the mods would add more fun.

Been wanting mods forever, half way through game, so said, screw it, and modded to my hearts delight. Don't care about achievements, and neither do the ladies, so you guys should really just mod as well .
