    Re: Fallout 4

Are you guys scrapping old weapons you don't use or just storing them at the weapon workbench? I am storing weapons currently, and maybe this is a bad idea.

I have multiple fatmans and miniguns..not sure the best plan of action there. Id like to roll out with a good rifle, shotgun and maybe a laser for Synths and just keep things simple.

I figure for tough missions I can fast travel back and grab a Fatman or the cannon gun I got.

Other question - I have armor plates that I can;t do anything with. I store them at my armor workbench but they don show up because I guess they are at 0, but I can't repair them either. Are they worthless?

I've been selling 90% of my guns for ammo early game. If they have a high level mod then I will modify it back to standard and keep the mod to put on another gun before selling it. Now I'm at the stage where I am going to start stockpiling enough to arm all my settlers.

You can repair those armor plates on the power armor rack.

I just had to repair my entire suit because I told my companion to wear it out so I could have it at hand if i needed it. Didn't expect the moron to stand in the open and take enough shots that the armor was destroyed after the first gun fight.

I've been storing most of them. It's a habit from previous fallouts though where weapon degradation was a thing. Be careful and don't store ammo with those weapons. I read our settlers will raid stashes during attacks and equip Fatman and use little boys up.

I've been giving settlers modded pipe pistol/rifles and depositing 30-50 rounds with them though in case there ever is an invasion.

Do you even need to give them ammo? Ive been giving companions guns with no ammo and equipping them and they still use them.

I would like clarification on this too. I haven't been giving my settlers other guns because I thought I heard the guns they have already have unlimited ammo.

I am going to try and keep the caliber all the same and just put a ton in the workbench. As someone mentioned I have heard that they will go grab necessary ammo. But since I am pretty much non-automatic pistol exclusive my settlers are going to get some pretty powerful automatics and melee weapons (I don't sell any legendary weapon or armor), which will be better than their stock weapons by enough of a margin to make it worth it. Trying to decide which gets blessed with Grognak's axe.

Ok this makes sense. I didn't know you could mod back to standard and keep the mods. Im going to pick an ammo caliber and then start selling, as I have so much ammo right now Im not using.

I can't figure out how to repair the plates on the armor rack. It wont show up. Do I need to have the armor in my INV? I put it in the workshop. It just doesnt seem to show up no matter what I do, but the helmet, which is not damaged does and the fusion cores do.

Yeah conflicting reports on this as well . I read they only had unlimited ammo for their initial gun. But Hoz says he's done it. Maybe there's a cut off. Otherwise, just give all of our settlers Fatman's and mini guns and they would just wreck house.

I haven't tested it though. I guess I could go punch some cows..

If I remember correctly I just took the pieces into my inventory, went up to the power rack (the yellow rack, not the armor workbench) and hit craft and the frame was hanging on the rack and I could repair each piece (no upgrades I think it was like 4 pieces of steel per piece)

I read there that some quests make it seem like it's more of a hurry, but most stuff I think you can let sit for a while.

For naming guns, i also saw someone say to start with the caliber in the name, can be an easier way to sort them if you have multiple of each caliber

Yeah you just need to have the armur in your inventory and have a power armor frame near the rack when you go to use it.

Nice, that's the one sort option I noticed they didn't included.
