    Hearts of Iron IV

Hearts of Iron IV challenges players to face the brutal conflict of World War II in a multifaceted grand strategy game, where history can be fully relived or rewritten from the perspective of a global superpower attempting to change the world, or a small nation simply trying to survive. Strategy fans will discover the most authentic real-time simulation of World War II to date, with authentic historical figures battling on land, sea, and air with period-accurate armies, vehicles, and newly discovered weapons of mass destruction – along with plenty of diplomatic and trade tactics.

I'm going to try to not buy this considering I never figured out HO3 but for some reason I can see myself preordering this.

I kind of feel like I'm in the same boat. I was never really able to wrap my head around HOI 2 or 3 but there is just some magnetism I have towards WWII strategy games...

I've had HOI 3 since it came out and I'm still learning, but anything WWII pulls me in. If CK2, Vic 2, or EUIV played like HOI I would have stopped trying.

The problem I have with all the paradox games in this series is I always feel like I'm just on the bus, not driving it. I've never figured out how to actually change anything except to very negative effect and even that seems to take spectacular mess ups. But I put plenty of time into each of them, trying.

This game would be a must have for me if they addressed the online issues such as connections, match making, and provided an express (think faster) style of play. Will buy anyhow as I'm a big WW buff and game enthusiast, just not seeing the advancements/changes I'd like to see in the game.

Any of you guys that enjoy WW / strategy games, feel free to add me on Steam. Definitely catch some games together. Nick is Valdarez.

I really wanted to get into HoI III, but just could never do it. I will keep an eye out for HoI IV, as I'm a sucker for Paradox developed games.

I would have preferred Vic 3 before HOI IV.

I think Paradox 'gets' that people desperately want to play HOI just don't know how. Make it a bit more user friendly like EU IV is and help get the ball rolling and this game will be a hit.

                              http://www.pcgamesn.com/hearts-iron-...w-high-command

If you’re Germany and your old Panzer IIIs and IVs are starting to run into trouble, you could switch the entire war economy over to the construction of new Panther and Tiger tanks. But during the switch, replacements will dry up as production lines shut down. So do you pay the up-front cost for better equipment, or try a more gradual transition, or do you put the new tanks on hold and invest in improving your existing models?

Planning also has one other interesting effect: it makes Hearts of Iron 4 one of the first strategy games I’ve ever seen with a convincing espionage model.
You see, it’s important to draw up war plans because units get bonuses if they have time to reach their jump-off points and prepare for the attack. You are weaker if you order units around at a whim, so you plan and prepare for operations. But plans can be stolen
