Re: Batman: Arkham Knight
Can of worms=opened.
I think the problem with Superman games is that his powers are so great, there's a limited amount of what you can do. It's basically fly, smash, etc...
They need to take it in a different direction and possibly incorporate Clark Kent into the mix, IMO.
Example;
Instead of worrying about a health meter and fighting impossibly strong bad guys, maybe incorporate a popularity meter or city damage meter.
As a living breathing entity, there is always something going on in Metropolis.
Bank Robbery? Great, go foil the crime. But if any citizens get hurt accidentally, your popularity meter drops.
Cause too much damage and the city's damage meter drops.
If one, or both get reduced to 0, the game is over (or add some other penalty).
Add in some serious story arcs involving super villians where you'll have to investigate as Clark Kent to get more information.
And perhaps changing from Clark to Sups is also something to be weary of.
This could lead to either an end of game scenario, or perhaps once your identity is blown, your loved ones like Martha Kent or Lois Lane in constant danger.
And just for kicks, maybe you decide to go all Superman III on the city.
If you go too far, maybe the JLA sends in guys like Shazaam or Martian Manhunter to take you down.
Superman is a great character but nobody seems to have the imagination to make a game worthy of him.

Re: Batman: Arkham Knight
I love the idea here. You make a unstoppable Superman. And make the user act like actual superman. But does Superman have limits. That's the biggest problem here. Trying to make GTA style game with unstoppable powers. Yeah sounds like a tough one. Can Superman wipe out the whole population if he wanted too?

I think he does need limits. But I’ve always felt that way even for comic book and movie Supes.
He should get hurt from tank artillery shells or massive gun ships. Maybe not killed but enough to put him down or make him feel it in the morning.
But I have to say, I like the idea of trying to level every building in Metropolis.
Imagine smart NPC AI? You touch down in the middle of a Metropolis football game and everyone stands up and cheers; only to start running and screaming in horror as you start burning everyone with your heat vision.

A lot of writers have said that the reason why they wouldn't want to do Superman is because it's basically writing a comic about Jesus.
An open-world Superman game won't ever work, IMO.Boston Red Sox

Re: Batman: Arkham Knight
WB Games is supposed to have some kind of presentation or reveal tomorrow during E3 at some point in the day. Don't know the details as my friend told me as he's a massive Rocksteady/Batman Arkham fan. Hoping for them to reveal whatever Rocksteady has been working on since Batman Arkham Knight. Also hoping for a Mortal Kombat XI reveal.Comment

Re: Batman: Arkham Knight
This is why the Superman character is just dumb. His story should begin and end with him being born.

Re: Batman: Arkham Knight
I thought Superman Returns had the right idea on XBox 360. Tying the health of the city to Superman and all of his powers particularly flight they nailed. The problem they ran into was that they had the tedious and endless random robot fights, I think you fought a tornado at one point? It’s not impossible I don’t think.
Also I thought I remember seeing that Game Informer was supposed to be doing a cover story on this Superman game that Rocksteady was making. It’s allegedly supposed to be the July cover story with complete coverage on gameplay.

Re: Batman: Arkham Knight
I have never been a big superman fan loved the show smallville though but after how amazing rocksteady did on the Arkham games i want to know what in the heck they are up to no matter if it is superman or another superhero or a completely new ip i just want to know. There have been rumors about them doing superman for a long long time to the point where i fell like there must be some kind of truth to it. But yeah i just need to know this and the lack of knowing what retro studios is doing for Nintendo are the 2 things driving me crazy and 2 things i thought we would get answers for at e3 but we didn't.Comment
