Morrowind for XBox.. Anyone played it?

    Heya everyone.

I remember a few years ago, Morrowind was a really hyped and highly-rated role-playing game for PC. My PC was owned by the demo, and therefore I never got a chance to play the game for more than 5 minutes.

While browsing the games in the XBox library, I noticed that Morrowind is available on XBox, and more recently there is a Game of the Year version available.

Has anyone played the XBox version of Morrowind? How is it? Is it a crappy PC port that should be avoided, or is it as good as it's bigger brother on PC?

Also, do you recommend the Game of the Year edition over the original? The original is is $19.99 and the GOTY is $29.99. Provided it's worth it, I don't mind paying an extra $10.

What are your thoughts and experiences with this game?

    Thanks!

p.s. The last game I played that seems to be similiar to this was Daggerfall. That was a first-person RPG that was open-ended and very fun.. I enjoyed it, aside from the boughts of motion-sickness I brought on by riding and walking around in fast circles..

It's equivalent to the PC version - just not as high a resolution as a high-end PC.

Definitely get the GOTY Edition, as there are bugs in the regular one that are damn nasty, and were cleaned up in the re-release.

I like it a lot, and I HATE that open-ended RPG stuff. I likes me my Square RPGs, but for an open-ended "wander around and collect stuff" RPG, it was excellent.

get the GOTY edition. The game is quite huge. You will probably never finish everything. There are hundreds of hours of game in this dvd. It might feel overwhelming at first, but if you stick through it, everything kind of falls into place. This is one of those games that once youhave, there really is no need to trade it in. You can always find something new. The world is damn big; DAMN big!!

I enjoyed daggerfall with bugs and all, but morrowind is much much better than daggerfall; so if you enjoyed daggerfall then you will feel right at home with this. Morrowind is definitely not a game for evryone though. Hard core american RPG here. The freedom is what is most frustrating at first.

The problem with Morrowind is that it's VERY buggy. The PC version(even with patches) is extremely unstable. Constant crashing, freezing, etc. Highly frustrating. The Xbox version isn't much better(at least the copy that I played). However, I have heard that the GOTY edition is a lot cleaner, which almost makes me tempted to buy it at 29.99. When the game runs properly, it's a phenomenal RPG. There is so much to see and do it's mind boggling.

I have the GOTY edition. It's a very fun, engrossing game - if you can get past the bugs. I haven't played it in a while, I just became frustrated with all the stuttering and freeze-ups. This thread though, makes me wanna pop it in the XBox and give it another chance.

I have it also and I like what I saw when I played it.I made a solemn promise to go back to playing it because a friend of mind let me have his thick azz manuel for it.I'm more of a sports kind of guy but I would slap a game in from time to time that has it going on like Morrowwind, definitely worth my money.
