Also, there is absolutely no question Nintendo "won" E3. They did things the way everyone should do things -- throw a stream of game announcements up on the screen, then spend the next few days discussing them at length and scattering more announcements in there.

My take on the big 3:

1) Nintendo had the best conference even though they were "not there".
2) MS I put in 2nd. It seems like what they set out to accomplish was to repair their relationship with gamers and they succeeded in doing that.
3) I put Sony here because, they were on top and really didn't have as much riding on the line as MS and Nintendo did. I thought they showed some games that show off the graphical prowess of their system, but as someone else said, most of these will be headlining E3 2015.

With Nintendo and MS, I got the sense it was about positioning. From the standpoint of MS, I get the sense that at worse they wanted to draw even content wise with Sony, while repairing their image. Additionally, I think what they are doing is setting things up down the line. While I did not like moving Quantum Break out of the E3 conference I think it was a smart move. They can have a major player at Gamescon. Spencer also mentioned in an interview in May that MS would have pre-conference announcements; conference announcements; and post conference announcements. So by no means do I think they are done. They'll have one of their major players at gamescon and I expect they will have announcements for their Japan launch.

Being the industry consoles sale leader at the moment, Sony did not have to think in the same way that Nintendo and MS did and I think their conference, while good, did not appear as aggressive and with a plan as the other two major players did.

All in all, one thing I will say overall, the industry needs more. Lots of milking of established IP's. I'm not saying that's a terrible thing, but we need more. That's why I was more intrigued with games like Ori and the Blind Forest, Inside, Sunset Overdrive, The Division, and because it is long overdue, Rainbow Six. While the wait for the latter has been a long wait, it is well worth it. Games like COD and Battlefield I feel need to take a hiatus rather than pumping out two a year.

With the arms race between Sony and MS, Nintendo would be smart if they carved a niche for themselves with things like they showed this week.

Nintendo just destroyed it this year. I really hope we start seeing a turn around in Wii U sales. Truly a great console.

Agreed, Lambert. Both Sony and Microsoft talk about how they want to have consoles all about the games, but that's never really going to be the case when a ton of their income comes from stuff like video, music, streaming services, etc. For Nintendo, they have to be all about the games, and that showed this year. They have the IPs to do it. I'm guessing 2015 is going to be a huge year for them.

And there's no doubt, VT. Such an underrated console. Needs the games to back it up. I'm betting history remembers it as being an awesome way to play games, sort of like the Gamecube was.

I was in awe of the Order jumping from cutascenes to game play and back in their stage demo. That looked amazing and everyone already knew im all in for any FROM game and Bloodborne trailer was the ****. Plus Let it Die, though it seriously looked like next gen Thrill Kill/Manhunt. Cant go by the live action trailer though so meh on that. I want in game shots.

Cant wait till I have that white Destiny PS4 in my hands in September

On Microsoft's side, Its another year where I look at MS exclusives and none of them move the needle for me like Bloodborne and The Order does.

Really was hoping to see the Last Guardian ar the Sony show though.

I'm sad they let Lily Bergamo die/morph into Let It Die.

However the name GungHo is attached. That's a literal warning that this game is going to be **** and not worth your time. **** that company. Take that game off of your radar if it's there, and this isn't stupid fanboy ****.

Did you cringe when you saw this beautifully rendered Drake and then 2 seconds later he reaches for the gun. Seriously, I wish they could eliminate combat from that game.

Publisher, not dev. I'm more slightly favourable to Suda51 though some of his games have missed for me.

They're this stupid company that publishes a lot of Korean MMOs in the West. You can tell every single thing they do is a cash grab and they'd rather see their fans die in a fire than stop paying them.

Grasshopper Manufacture is owned by GungHo, they bought them last January (2013).
