My Xbox has a Thompson drive and i've haven't had any problems yet.

Warranties run out though...mine did at best buy and im hoping my xbox doesnt die on me.

U 2? Mine just ran out last month and (knock on wood) no problems yet. The only problem I've ever had with it was the Thompson drive and they fixed that by putting in a Samsung.
