U 2? Mine just ran out last month and (knock on wood) no problems yet. The only problem I've ever had with it was the Thompson drive and they fixed that by putting in a Samsung.

      Re: My Xbox quit!

Try calling Microsoft. When my xbox stopped reading game discs a couple months ago, I called MS even though my xbox was well over 2 years old (I got it on launch day) To my surprise they told me it was still under warranty and they fixed it for me for FREE. I had it back 1 week from the day I mailed it to them.

I was shocked that it was still under warranty after such a long period of time. My theory is that they are fixing them for free because they know that many xbox's shipped with bad dvd drives.

Did they replace the whole thing or did they actually fix it? Did your hard drive still have the saves on it?

If I went any bigger, it would not have properly fit with my equipment, so I had to optimize. I'm okay with it, but I also know what I'm missing with those five inches. :)

They fixed it. I know this because the serial number of the returned unit was the same as the one I sent out. My saves were still intact on my hard drive. They must have replaced the dvd drive because I haven't had any problems since.
