Ugh... the 3rd boss is sooo far away from the nearest lantern. I went through the whole level, unlocked shortcut and almost beat the boss on my first try. Now I can't even get back there 4 straight times WITH the shortcut. And lost 35k souls in the process. Annoying, might have to level up some I guess. At 13 still.

Also, I bought some key for 10k from the skeleton guys, does anyone know what it opens? Probably not far enough yet.

I doubt it but I thought I ask. Is it worth using your blood shards (I think their called that) to level up the beginning axe? I found 10 so far in the first level. Not past first boss yet.

Also can you respec? I'm so scared to put points into anything incase I find a weapon that goes up with totally different attributes. Lol.

Skeleton key opens the grand cathedral I believe? From the chathedral lantern go straight out and up the big set of stairs.

Don't know about respec, but there aren't that many different weapons in the game. Saw cleaver, saw spear, threaded cane, hunter's axe, kirkhammer, speargun, and I saw a video of sword version of the kirkhammer. Past that I'm not sure how many are left.

I'm running around with the threaded cane and saw spear.

I could be remembering this incorrectly but I think there's a shortcut to the shortcut, for lack of a better way of putting it. You definitely don't need to be dealing with the mini-gun guy, unless I'm totally misremembering.

I think if you go down that side way, where you fall off the house near the tower with the tall ladder, you can run to another area that takes you right to the beginning of the old town area with the werewolves. Those can be a pain in the butt but not too horrible. If I'm totally messing up with my recollection of that area I applogize just seem to remember there were two shortcuts on that level.

Also, speaking of the mini-gun guy, has anyone killed him? He's harder than the bosses so far. Jacks me up each time I climb up to him.

As for the boss itself, I just remember constantly dodging around behind the beast, I don't think he has an attack that hits behind him. Just be sure to have antidotes for the poison. His charging attack is easy to dodge

If the key is needed for grand cathedral, is grand cathedral a little bonus area or a big main story area?

I went back and checked, since my last post didn't make sense

From the old town (I forget the actual name) lantern go out and to the right. You can fall down carefully to the bottom right in front of a door through a church/bell tower type building that opens up right into the downtown area with the werewolves that leads right to the third boss

Watching the Game Informer stream the reviewer mentions there are some things that act like Souls magic, but not really.

There are probably weapons that scale on arcane, but I don't completely.

A couple of things:

First have you ever played an an Souls game. If not know what your getting yourself into. It's not a easy game and it takes time and memory. I would say you could try Dark Souls first pretty cheaply however this game is faster and different enough to have its own feel rather than the soul games.

My suggestion is to get it used through gamestop and use their 7 day return policy to try it. It will be at gamestop soon not because it's a bad game but because there will be many people that don't know what they are getting themselves into and return it out if frustration. It happened with Demon Souls, Dark Souls and Dark Souls 2 and I can see it happening with Bloodborne.

Factor in that it and The order are really the only PS4 exclusives in recent months to release and people want something to play getting it.

I can't beat the fourth boss. I never know what attack is coming. Unless you're directlt,behind her she can get you at any angle. That sweeping claw destroys my health bar too. I've spent a lot of time grinding, I'm definitely not under leveled. The attack pattern is too erratic for me to time my own attacks safely

I can't beat the fourth boss. I never know what attack is coming. Unless you're directlt,behind her she can get you at any angle. That sweeping claw destroys my health bar too. I've spent a lot of time grinding, I'm definitely not under leveled. The attack pattern is too erratic for me to time my own attacks safely

she took me a few tries, it's hard to tell what moves she's about to do if you're behind her as all that hair covers her body. I found staying just to her left or right dodging whatever she throws helps.

I wasn't comfortable attacking her as I couldn't read her movements either. I only threw a strike every once in awhile until she pauses for a moment to recover which is when I unleash on her until she starts moving again. Eventually she kneels over as you beat up her legs. You'll hear a distinct sound similar to stunning someone with a firearm. When that happens rush up to her head and perform a critical strike. This fight was such a grind, one bad move and you're done. It doesn't help that she also heals which prolongs the fight.

Yes the totally unpredictable attack pattern is why it took me so long to beat her.

Hell I have taken 2 cracks at the first boss and barely made a dent each time.
