No I mean don't most betas happen at the minimum 2 months before the release to implement any fixes they need before shipping. A month with in release just seems way to close to the release date.

Not necessarily look at NHL 16. They are having a beta for EASHL right now and the game is coming out at some point next month. Also in the FIFA forums there appears to be some sort of beta in that game that I am guessing is happening sometime soon with game coming out on 9/22/15. Also like 23 said, it could be used to see if there servers can handle all of the people playing. Also what are the most prominent bugs that they can try to fix in the first or second patch depending on when that first patch drops (meaning release day or not).

Depends man, each session is not always the same area of testing. The game played just fine to be honest...that wasnt what the bugs were at all (gameplay)

Why have a beta a month before the game releases?

Because marketing departments have corrupted what a beta really is. Perhaps it doesn't matter as much with the way games are constantly updated.

Yeah I guess since a game can get updates/patches so much sooner then before devs consider betas to be just Demos now.

That's what I liked about the Halo beta. They released that thing so early that they made lots of changes to the core element based on what the fans wanted.

Just wish devs would stop calling it a Beta when betas should be done earlier than a month in advance and just call it what it really is. A demo. I guss they don't so if they have server problems they can just blame it on the beta.
