I'm going to pick it up on Sunday most likely. Out of town today and tomorrow, so assuming the online servers are smooth over the weekend I'll be picking it up.

Like Flawless, aside from Batman and Witcher 3, nothing AAA is really on my radar for a while.

Wow, the last boss in single player is amazing. Pretty solid overall. It's definitely not an afterthought or just a tutorial for multiplayer. Worth it to experience that last boss, plus you unlock some gear. There's also some collectible scrolls you can find in levels that provide some surprisingly interesting backstory and some are blueprints for a slightly different version of weapons the shop sells.

Ranked up to level 5 in multiplayer and like in the Testfire, I'm really enjoying it. As someone who has lost a lot of interest in competitive multiplayer shooters in recent years, it's crazy that Nintendo is the one to get me excited again. Matches are just so fast and fun. Only experienced a little lag at the start of one match where paint wasn't registering on the geometry, but otherwise it's been rock solid for me and it puts you into matches quickly. If Nintendo really supports this post-launch, it will have very long legs (or tentacles).

How are the gyro controls working out? Alex Navarro from Giant Bomb mentioned that once he got used to them he felt he was able to aim better/faster than with just the right stick.

Thx for impressions Flawless. Wife and I are out today so I'll be picking it up tonight. Glad to hear the SP isn't just an afterthought.

This is how I felt during the Testfire and now in the full game.

                    Re: Splatoon

Just got it this afternoon. Jumping online for my first battle. Kind of thinking the same thing about motion controls (could be awesome once i get used to it). Still wish I could use the wiimote and nunchuck.

Also picked up an Inkling Amiibo.

Another dumb thought/question: anyone think there may be New 3ds integration down the line as a second controller? Or even better still, an offshoot game of similar ilk for the New 3ds?

Also, my soon-to-be 7 year old is very fired up about this game. However, I don't have him set up for a Nintendo ID, so he can't play online. Is there any way for him to level up, or is it hopeless for him unless he gets online? If so, how many of you have your younger children with online access (Nintendo only)?

TV My brother picked this up for his kids and he was very disappointed in that it has no offline coop options. His kids are used to destiny (which is only one player) and found splatoon boring. He's going to try and bring it back.

Looking online at how the parental controls work, I think we make take the plunge with him tomorrow.

Anyone try the wiimote hack with the pro controller to get motion controls for 1 vs 1 Battle Dojo?

I just tried it with my son, and it works super slick. A serious Frankencontroller, but effective.

I'm trying to attach a photo of it, but Tapatalk keeps crashing when doing so. Google 'Splatoon Wiimote Hack', and it should be the first result.

I hated the motion controls in the test fire and I still do. So did my kids. My 6 and 4 year old both have been playing online and having a lot of fun. It's just okay to me but they love it which is all that matters.

Picked up mine today, can't wait to get home a play it. My wife was even waiting on me to pick it up. She really liked the demo (testfire) a few weeks ago.
