Re: The Last of Us: Remastered

This game looks and runs great, better than ever even, on PS4 and PS5 these days. The only area it might feel a little dated is the level design and encounter areas. But even still, when this game came out you could tell Naughty Dog pushed the PS3 to the limit, it almost felt like a PS4 game. This is the same case with Part 2, other than it running at 30FPS it looks and plays so damn amazing, it could pass for a PS5 game.

This game might be my favorite game ever, with Part 2 right behind it. Would I buy a remake? I'd have to think about it honestly.

With the first game in the news cycle recently, it motivated me to jump into Factions this past weekend on my PS5. I played it all weekend and had a blast. I don't know if everyone else was like me and just jumped back in, but there's still a strong community playing this game online. I never had an issue once finding a match.

I think the reverence for this game is interesting, as I have never been a big fan. I was interested in the story which was well done, I thought, but to be honest, the core gameplay loop wasn't that fun in my opinion. The combat is sort of clunky, and while I know you aren't supposed to necessarily get into massive firefights all the time, when it happens it isn't that rewarding. The stealth is about on-par with stealth in most games, which is to say I didn't enjoy it (it's basically a game of "how lightly can you press LS while approaching people from behind"), and the constant resource limitation - which I understand is a core part of the game - just makes the game more about accounting than fun.

I really enjoyed the "Uncharted" series, so maybe the bombastic, over-the-top Indiana Jones style stuff is just more my speed. But this is one of those games (like the "Bioshock" games) that everyone seems to like that never really spoke to me for whatever reason.
