    Re: Assassin's Creed: Rogue (360, PS3)

This game is a mixture of AC2 and Black Flag. I say AC2 because you get to buy and renovate property through out the world, which generates income for you. I would also say this is a must have for those who have been following the story line universe for a long time.

I would also say the same bugs you see in Unity, you see in Rogue. Last night I went to jump off a roof and got stuck in mid air. Just hanging in the air, couldn't move at all while the enemy just shot me dead. There was also one mission that wouldn't start, everybody just stood there and when you walked through the crowd it felt like you were walking in quick sand. I had to restart the mission just to get it to play.

Other then that, I'm digging the story.

Anyway, quick question for those who are playing on 360 -

Do I need Xbox Live Gold in order to play the Naval Campaign? Thanks.
You shouldn't need gold... Shay's fleet doesn't open till later... Don't wanna spoil the campaign for you. But it's coming.

I've already gotten to Sequence 4 and cleared out everything in the North Atlantic so far. Working on New York now. Man there is so much to hunt and craft in this game. I'd also like more enemy ships to pop up so I can get the materials it need to upgrade the Morrigan. I'll probably power through Rogue while I wait for Unity to get patched.

Btw, the Native Pillars and Ice Caves are fun

        Quick question -

In every area, when I hold down the RB button to bring up all the collectables and stuff, there's always a few "progress further" notifications on that menu. What exactly is this because im sometimes in an area that says "progress further" but yet, there's nothing really around in the area. This wasn't in Black Flag and im trying to figure out exactly what it means, does and how I get it to be complete as opposed to 0/1 every time. Thanks.

Just keep playing the campaign. During sequence 3, most things would have unlocked to do

              Re: Assassin's Creed: Rogue (360, PS3)

Just finished memory 2 in sequence 3.

Thus far, Rogue is my game of the year and should easily surpass Black Flag once im finished with it.

Not perfect but what a blast to play. From the hunting challenges to avoiding Assassins trying to kill me to lock-picking (even though it should be better) to renovating buildings, churches, shops, etc. and earning money from them to the Assassin interception missions to everything else, it seems like every time I turn around, there's something new.

Best of all, im enjoying the story, Shay character, memory variation and the fact that thus far there's been no "eavesdropping" missions. Only had to do one or two (can't remember which) "tailing" missions and while there's several "following" segments, I don't mind them at all as they advance the story and prefer it over cinematics.

Almost forgot, three maps in the game which is definitely a pleasant surprise as Rogue appears to be bigger and more dense than Black Flag.

I know that a lot of gamers are pissed off at them but not me, I love Ubisoft baby!!!

                Re: Assassin's Creed: Rogue (360, PS3)

Beat the game last night with half of the forts captured. Map size wise of places you can actually go is smaller then Black Flag. But far as story line goes, so far this is the best in the series. I shall see if Unity tops it. I like how they basically connected everything in the Assassin's Creed Universe in Rogue, from AC1 to Unity.

Plus I like how they kept the game simple and straight forward. I found the earlier Assassin's Creed games too much like Tomb Raider, with too much climbing and backwards flipping to get to point A to point B, with over the top unnecessary puzzles to unlock doors. Rogue isn't like that at all, thank goodness. Much more action oriented and it gets to the point.

Onward to Unity. I would give Rogue a solid 9 out of 10. Not often do you come across a game with a very good story line nowadays.

I picked it up last night and am through Sequence 2-2. I was actually through 2-3, but my game froze on the saving screen when it was trying to load 2-4. When I restarted, my save had lost half of my clearing out of Albany's collectibles and all of my progress in 2-3 and Sleepy Hollow.

Outside of that little blip, I've had fun so far. I'm not really exploring many of the sites until I unlock the activities that I can do there.

Yea it's best to not explore until later when all the upgrades and events unlock. I'm through Sequence 3 and exploring, hunting, taking down forts and settlements and liberating gang hideouts. Haven't started harpooning yet. Hearing the old shanties from AC4 is great. And I love Shay. He's not just a stone cold killer and seems troubled by all this that is going on. His voice acting isnt great however

Word of advice, look for prison ships. That is a huge pay day for both money and materials.

I still suck at the board games other than checkers. I had to chuckle when I noticed that the tavern fight animations were exactly the same as Black Flag. Not that it takes away from the actual gameplay, but come on. At least change it a little bit.

Tim, they are the exact same in III as they are in Rogue. I remember beating somebody in Lexington down with Haytham Kenway.

The POW ships are for sure where it's at. In Freedom Cry, you could get stupid amounts of money and cargo just by focusing on that.

Also invest in the renovations too. I already have £170,000 and I've been playing for only 2 days!!

Hm. Guess I didn't notice it in III. I still have to really get into and finish that one. I kind of got busy then moved on to other games. If there was one thing I would bring forward from that game, it would be the more robust economy system involving raw materials and manufacturing things to send out on the ships.

I'd loved the economy system in that game. It took forever to make money, but once you found your method it was great. I'd kill off Beaver pellets and send them to the Caribbean. Also you had to finish the the Privateer contracts do you didn't lose your convoys.

I feel as Rogue is a nice love letter to the AC series and where it's been. Uses the AC IV engine and naval system, brought over the PoW ships/Slave Ships from Freedom Cry, renovations from AC2, Settlements and gang headquarters which harkin back to AC Brotherhood's Borgia Towers along with the open and remoteness of Ac3 setting. I'm loving this game a heck of a lot more than I thought I would

Me too. I got through Sequence 3 last night. Now the game has really taken shape, I have all my gadgets, and I can't wait to continue clearing out areas in the River Valley. But at the same time the story is so good it's hard not to rush through it.

The one thing I really like is that you can't just walk up to the assassin gang leaders and start a sword fight to defeat him. It takes using the environment and quick thinking to get him before he detects you.

The assassination interception mission I did was a lot of fun as well.

As far as I'm concerned, Ubisoft really hit it out of the park with Black Flag and Rogue.
