I feel as Rogue is a nice love letter to the AC series and where it's been. Uses the AC IV engine and naval system, brought over the PoW ships/Slave Ships from Freedom Cry, renovations from AC2, Settlements and gang headquarters which harkin back to AC Brotherhood's Borgia Towers along with the open and remoteness of Ac3 setting. I'm loving this game a heck of a lot more than I thought I would
My first AC game was AC III but quit during the hunting sequence tutorial. Liberation was a decent 7/10 but I played it after Black Flag which was obviously a mistake. Black Flag was a 9/10 in my opinion and my own personal game of the year for 2013. Rogue is already better and I just finished sequence three. Every time I turn around, there's something new to do. The naval campaign opened up and I did three missions. And haven't needed to connect online whatsoever which makes me very happy as I love those little mini ship battles.

Played AC II this past July to get ready for Unity but stopped played halfway through as it's too slow paced for me at times and that bores me. Rogue is one hell of a game and im loving almost everything thus far. My only major complaint is that the Assassin's keep appearing every 5 minutes or so which is annoying. Minor complaint is that the ability to purchase animal skins is still available. I would have preferred it if it wasn't like in Far Cry 3. Would make the game even better. Thus far, easily a 9/10 and could hit 9.5 when im 100% finished.

      Re: Assassin's Creed: Rogue (360, PS3)

Maybe it's just me but it seems like there's just so much more side content than in Black Flag. Settlements, Warehouses, Forts, Gang Headquarters and more. Also, love the weather and day/night cycles. Loving this game. Rogue is my game of the year thus far as Far Cry 4 has a tough challenge ahead of it. LOL.

For those playing on Xbox 360, I have two questions for anyone who can answer them.

      1) Why is there TWO game saves 1A and 1B on my hard drive when im only using one in game slot?

      2) Anyway to see or know how many hours I have put into Rogue? I remember the PS3 version of Black Flag had the hours listed on the dashboard or whatever it's called.

      Thanks.

It is just you, Black Flag had all these things plus ship wrecks to explore.

Black Flag didn't have settlements to take over or those camps with all the supplies are at. I know a lot was in Black Flag but several things weren't. Also love the fact that I can play the Naval Campaign in-game as opposed to needing Xbox Live Gold.

Ship wrecks are probably the only thing Black Flag had that Rogue doesn't but of course, it's artic and freezing water compared to a warm tropical paradise so I can understand that.

Missions though are better and im only halfway through. Forts are better as well because your crew doesn't help you when you infiltrate it and im not sure if every fort is like the one in sequence 3 memory 3 but if it is, that's different, better and surpasses Black Flag.

I loved Black Flag...I put in over 120 hours into the game. Rogue just seems to be better in every aspect. Will have to do a comparison at some point since I have both for Xbox 360.

Yes Black Flag did have supply camps to raid....

Only thing Rogue does better is the story line, because it is more straight forward and to the point. Unfortunately Unity story line isn't like that, Unity story line is more like AC2.

I don't remember supply camps in Black Flag. In Rogue, they look like a little push cart on the map and are guarded by soldiers but if you have one that's exactly the same, send me a link and I'll check it out.

As for what Rogue does better, the basics are the same but they added some new elements and just little tidbits here and there. Just a few minutes ago, I had a random event of a citizen hanging off a cliff and I had to rescue him. That wasn't in Black Flag. It's simply all the little things that make Rogue better to me. The story in Rogue is definitely better than Black Flag and while I enjoyed the Edward Kenway character, Shay is definitely better. Best thing about the story is that thus far, there's been no eavesdropping missions which alone makes Rogue better than Black Flag.

Either way, im loving Rogue. Game of the year for me thus far. Will be interesting to see if my second most wanted game of the year (Far Cry 4) matches or surpasses it.

                Re: Assassin's Creed: Rogue (360, PS3)

Rogue is like Black Flag on steroids. You lose shipwrecks, but you gain a lot. I think you two are getting caught up in terminology. No, there were not supply camps in Black Flag. There were warehouses where you get a key and unlock the building. Those are in Rogue. But then there's supply camps, which are small areas guarded by soldiers where you get a smaller amount of materials.

There are no gang headquarters or hostile settlements to take over in BF - these are more like outposts in FC3.

The areas are also a lot more like the Frontier in III where you can move freely between them without sailing. I love that aspect. Right now I'm in the middle of the River Valley map and my ship is 3 areas over, lol. Plus, they took away a lot of the needless sailing around for uncharted items on a simple beach and replaced them with areas that have a bit more life or can even be reached without sailing.

This game takes BF and improves it by mixing in good elements from III. I'm loving every second of it.

^^^^^This is what I was talking about. The supply camps is also usually the information you get from the bartender in Taverns.

Agree 100%. I have spent all day in the River Valley area and haven't done a single storyline mission yet today and most likely won't. I want to 100% the game and have everything done before I complete the story. Was also doing a few of those mini ship battles in the Naval Campaign. I'm still trying to figure out some reviews from critics that said there's not a lot to do in the game when in fact, there's a lot to do in the game. *shakes head*

If reviewers said there isn't a lot to do in this game it's because they didn't actually play the game as it should be played. The main missions guide you to where you need to go. What you should do is clear out everything on your way there. That way you gain the money and resources you need to upgrade your ship and weapons. At the same time you get to appreciate the game for what it really is. This is the same with any Ubi game. The experience is what you make of it. And for completionists like myself, it's one hell of a great experience.

Agreed. Definitely going for 100% completion with Rogue as it's too damn good and fun not to.

The reviewers saying there isn't anything to do is bogus. They half azz played Rogue and didn't get into any of the side stuff. There is tons to accomplish, especially in the hunting and crafting part of the game. Many more upgrades are available than in Black Flag. Also I love the random supply chests so you can refill ammo without paying money.

Also the Frontier clashes are nice and the naval campaign is fun too. I need to take down some bigger ships to complete it however.

Didn't even realize this had dropped. Looks like I made the wrong choice in picking up Unity and should have bought Rogue instead.

Yeah.......once you play Rogue, you will truly see how bad Unity is. It will mess you up for a while because the controls and free running is so much better in Rogue. Then once you play Unity you realize you can't move the same way like you did in Rogue.
