If we can get a group of players together this will be a blast on consoles. It's outdated graphically but the gameplay, specifically the tower defense aspects of dealing with other players and the day 7 horde could be very fun.

I may or may not pick it up based on the experience you guys have tonight.

Not sure if it'll have staying power, I still have dying light and that was pretty fun. But not too many people play that any more.

This kinda game I'd only play with others in co-op because nope solo.

I wouldn't mind grabbing PS4 version even though I haven't touched PC version in forever. BB here doesn't have yet but when they do I may grab due to GC discount. Watching a stream now.. basically what I figured. Fun but glitchy a bit.

                  Re: 7 Days to Die...Any OS'rs playing

So I played this game for about 6 hours with the fellas tonight.

It is honestly one of the most difficult experiences for me to describe/review. I can't really recommend this game, and I can't really NOT recommend this game at the same time.

People who are familiar with PC gaming, especially the early access program on Steam, will probably be more apt to take to this game on console than others who are accustomed strictly to console gaming.

You are not buying the finished product, what you are getting right now is not the final version. This game became available as an early access title on Steam in 2013, I believe, but correct me if I am wrong. Basically what that does is let you buy a game while it is still in alpha/beta stages, as it is still being developed and updated routinely, for a price typically lower than the final product will be. Last time I checked the PC version is still in an "alpha" stage, and this console version (at launch) is based on/built from the alpha build prior to the most recent one currently available on PC. That is what I was told, anyway.

You have to look at this game as an investment, as it will continue to be developed and updated semi-regularly, probably for quite a while.

Another thing that I understand to be true is that the console version has been "dumbed down" a little interface wise to make it a wee bit easier to navigate the crafting and whatnot, and kind of like how Overwatch has console and PC specific aspects, so does this game.

Again, buying this game is more of an investment than an immediate payoff. You will not get the polish of a game like Overwatch, or the graphics or fluidity of a game like Dying Light. It looks like a late PS2/early PS3 game, it runs kind of clunkily. Again, it is an alpha build. The game is still being developed as it goes. You have frequent split second stutters for background loading, zombies will sometimes appear out of nowhere or attack you without making a sound, numerous bugs and glitches of that nature.

THAT BEING SAID, the core gameplay is super solid. It is fun. It is a minecraft style sandbox, with a day/night zombie system, a good amount of game mode customization. Pretty in depth survival/crafting aspects. If you want to cook an egg, you will need the egg, water, a pan, a fire, etc. No easy way out easy buttons. It does the survival thing pretty damn well.

I don't know if I will ever play this game solo, but it is fun with friends for sure. A lot of the fun was scavenging and surviving together, starting our little town/homebase, fortifying said home base, and occasionally screwing with eachother with some open world PvP elements (setting trap spikes outside the door was hilarious, as was randomly running up to Candy and hitting him on the head with a club). You can dig a hole and terraform your environment. There is a lot to it. It is just so rough right now. No polish whatsoever.

If you can be patient and enjoy the game for what it is as it continues to get better and better with more updates, and you have friends who play, youre in for a treat. If that isn't in your wheelhouse, maybe look elsewhere.

One thing that did bum me out was that you are tied to whoever's game you joined. So I can't use the character I built today in Fear's game world on my own, I can only use it again when he is on and has that game loaded. I dunno how it works on PC but that seems kind of unfortunate

I am definitely curious to join a random's game session/server and try the game with full on PvP, no mercy, no friends. I bet that can get pretty intense

Sorry about abruptly leaving last night. Time Warner apparently decided I had played enough online. I was surrounded by zombies and dogs anyway so I wouldn't have lasted much longer.

Forgot to mention to you guys last night one of my favorite features of this game is the structural integrity and load bearing physics system. This comment reminded me about it because I on the pc version I tried to build a tunnel to be a smart guy and escape the zombies and it collapsed on me and I suffocated. There are special rulesets for how many unsupported blocks of each kind can be placed together. Its not super deep but its at least something that presents an additional threat.

I just played the PS4 version and it was fun. The main thing I HATE is the dogs.
They are simply annoying and in PC version you can get rid of them. (Which I did)

Anyways it was what I expected .. actually I am surprised the controls were decent for a console version.

                          Re: 7 Days to Die...Any OS'rs playing

On the PS4 it's still in "ALPHA" stage...so it has a long way to go

....been watching this the past couple days on Playstation LIVE to get a jist of what this game is about.

                          It's like Day-Z + Minecraft wrapped all-in-one....

The world looks endless and the devs tell us they will be updating this constantly - I've been looking for something like this after seeing all the Day-Z, H1Z1, and other cpu games similar to this...

It definitely has it bugs as it crashes (watched about an hour on stream, and it crashed 2 times), but the unpredictability of it is really cool - but yes, #PATIENCE is the key to this game, because every 7 days the "zombie hoarde" comes out and you just have to wait it out in cover or fight through it and hope you survive.

And, the graphics are definitely more of a PS1/PS2 version, but these types of games aren't about the 'flash' and more about the variance of gameplay ---sandbox, etc.

Looks very interesting and would DEF be a great pick-up if you have 'peeps' to play with, but you can always 'join' a random game and make friends that way too.

If you can get past the crashes & bugs of an alpha game...grab it

                          Picking this up.

Edit - had to add, the Thunderstorm sounds are legit...literally thought it was storming outside my window....LOL

Definitely has its share of bugs, but that's to be expected with the current state of the game.

If you have friends to play with though I would definitely recommend it. We've been playing it well into the night each day since it came out. Total blast.

Yea I stayed up pretty late, def fun with friends. It can only improve from here on out. Buggy as hell but I understand, it's basically an alpha like Jare said earlier. I think I'll get my 30 bucks out of it.

The server issue is the big obstacle for me right now. They have to figure out a way to allow you to continue your character even when the person that started the game is not online. I'm pretty sure that 99% of the time I'm playing this game will be with OSers so the double edge sword is that the more people that are playing the more fun this game is, but if 9 out of 10 people in your group are online but if the 1 is the person that created the original game then you can't play.
