    Re: Cities: Skylines

I bought this game last night on a whim, having heard the great press for it.

    I'm having an absolute blast.

I'm still a noob to this game and I know the gameplay cadences are different (as my first city I tried was testament to), but if my experience in SimCity 2000 / 3000 is of any use - try lowering tax rates.

        Thanks for any tips.

i also build most of my residences and businesses around the water so those have more curved streets and farther inland they are squared but ive been expanding too fast so i keep losing money ima just pace it and go smaller at first

I kept losing money as well, what helps is to raise the tax a click for res,bus and ind, if you raise it too much to fast they'll let you know. It's worked well for me as I have had my most productive city thus far.

            Re: Cities: Skylines

There seems to be a bug in which parks and monuments are affecting the demand for commercial zones. More parks=less demand. My Residential is growing slowly but I cant build enough offices and industry. Think I will fine tune what i have right now instead of just building more, at this rate half my city will be offices.

A tutorial on how to create parallel curved roads:
Discover the magic of the internet at Imgur, a community powered entertainment destination. Lift your spirits with funny jokes, trending memes, entertaining gifs, inspiring stories, viral videos, and so much more from users.

Also this one is a very good mod to scale the text. Very useful as text is tiny for all those that have their desktop plugged in their big TV:

The game is becoming huge day by day, there are already spectacular assets by users and mods that are almost like new features for the game.

I downloaded a mod last night that allows you to change a 2 way road to a run way and it allows you to change directions of one way roads. It's awesome, that mod at launch would have probably saved me over an hour.

There is a former Maxis employee making buildings for CSL, a Crusader Kings Dev making a mod that would add another layer of government to the game a la Tropico. I haven't been this excited for a game in a long time, i am emotionally invested. When I get home I'll post some pics of my city, I'm passed 70k cims.

I still huge traffic problems in my industrial area, I think the only solution is to spread out my industry and keep it along the highways.

Just passed 500k copies sold http://www.pcgamer.com/former-simcit...ties-skylines/

Try increasing your education, add some more mass transit and lowering taxes for businesses. Another thing that seems to work is creating districts around business heavy areas and giving those districts tax breaks in the district menu.

cool ill try that. one thing that i know was breaking my city into districts. i have one general low density home/commercial one high density home/commercial/
office with high education and my industrial district i had general at first and i had
a lot of places lacking workers but i switched to specializing in lumber and its been helping greatly

One thing I learned was to keep an eye on your sewage polluting the water. I had my clean water upstream but somehow it spread upstream and poisened my entire city.

Luckily had about $400k in cash to start building cemeteries and hospitals all over the place.

Lost about 20% of the town to illness and death. Took about 6 months to stop loosing money and have a positive growth on people.

Now I have water treatment plants in between the sewage and the pumping stations, cleans up the water a lot.
