Re: Cities: Skylines
Useful gameplay mods would be at the top of my list. Right now I have the better building/architecture tool and the auto raze mod running.Depends on what you want to mod. Actual gameplay changes, decorative, graphical, assets like a variety of small clinics, fire stations, etc.
I would recommend getting on the workshop and downloading the different buildings that add variety. It's a bit irritating the game shipped with such limited choices with service buildings. Thankfully we have a lot of mods that offer a variety of these buildings. Some times you only need a small clinic or fire station for an area of the city and not something of the size of the base assets.
Some of these buildings also offer new functions. My city I am working on now doesn't use landfills or incinerators. All garbage is recycled. It's expensive, but provides a fun challenge. This is also the same city that gets all of its energy through wind at the moment.Comment

Re: Cities: Skylines
I'll be giving this a shot on the PS4.
Was considering the game but no way I have the laptop to support it.
So glad the PS4 is built to get these PC ports of games I'm interested in.

Re: Cities: Skylines
Right now the only things I'm running that affect actual game play are more realistic population and consumption. No more houses with 4 families in them and a workplace employing 50 people that's in a 2x2 building. It balances it out to where most houses are one realistic family, apartment building house a realistic number of people. Jobs employ a realistic amount. It makes your cities have smaller populations with greater size than the base game, but I feel like it's better overall this way.
For quality of life improvements I use fine road anarchy, tree anarchy, the engineering mod that shows all the stats you'd need when building infrastructure, and a few more. I'd need to be at my PC to get a full breakdown for you. Once I'm home I'll use a later post and have a list under a spoiler of everything I use.Last edited by canes21; 06-23-2017, 05:39 PM.“No one is more hated than he who speaks the truth.”

Re: Cities: Skylines
You're city looks amazing bro. Really nice.Don't know how many of you still play this, but I decided to jump on the Mass Transit DLC out of the blue and got back into playing this. I've gotten a good amount of mods installed this time and finally am hitting my stride to where I am not just starting a new city every other night. I've been working on this one slowly, but consistently. One of the mods I am using makes the population more realistic, so this city(really it's a town) is still just over 5,000 people, but I've had a lot of fun doing minor detailing. I've stayed with clean energy and tried to avoid polluting the air with basic industry the entire time, so that has also slowed down the progression. Anyways, here is Springfield.
Spoiler
You can easily tell compared to the last pic I posted of the ramp system that even just basic detailing makes a huge difference in the look and feel of a city. You can also see, or at least I feel this way, that I've gotten much better at creating better looking cities and not something so gamey.
This is me. I love the concept of this game but man is it overwhelming. It one of those games you can't rush through and need to take your time but u always get impatient because I have limited gaming time. Ah well.Picked this up today.... being brand new, wow is it overwhelming. I didn't get a chance to sit down until late so I had to shelve it for the night. Clearly got some learning/research to do first.
Anyone have any pointers or suggestions for a "noob tutorial" of sorts? There's obviously a plethora of videos on YouTube. Wondering if anyone likes any in particular.

As for as more progress on my current town, I began working on a new section of my city that is near an exit that has a big shopping center with foot paths for the pedestrians as well as a cinema. A mall is across the street from all of this as well.

Re: Cities: Skylines
I got back into this and now blimps are by far the most effective mass transit option I've ever implemented in any city I've ever built.
As a former college basketball prize blimp pilot, I am tickled to death by this coincidence lol.Comment

Re: Cities: Skylines
Ended up redoing the shopping center I was working on before. I found a good amount of shops on the workshop that I liked and decided to go in a new direction over whatever I was attempting before.

Re: Cities: Skylines
I just got this on sale for X1. I have a question. Is there any way to adjust the screen ratio? Here's 2 pictures. This is what I'm talking about. Notice how some things are cut out? I hope I can adjust. Thanks.
