    Cities: Skylines

I'm on vacation in Sarasota, Florida right now and just driving around I imagine rebuilding these highways and intersections in C:S. Living in Syracuse, it's different to drive around a area that is still growing and expanding.

Anybody know of any mods that adds a decent basketball arena or american football stadium? I want to build a university....but I'd like them to have a fake athletic program too.

There are a few good Stadiums now , Here is my University with a world class Soccer program. I also have a first person mod that allows me to latch on to a vehicle and I have that its so cool to get that view of my city. Its just awesome to see everything I have created.

just got an early 2015 13" macbook pro, thought this game would be nice on it, but reading on steam it says 'does not support intel' ... so I didn't buy. I haven't bought a 'computer' game in ... well, probably since my childhood. Anyone running this on a mac?

I have the same type of MacBook and plays no problem through Steam.

Playing on OS X here as well.

Only issue I've had is that if you have the Steam notifications overlay on, the main menu's visuals get all jacked up. This is a problem with the underlying engine, Unity, which is apparently going to take a while to fix. Once you actually open a city (be it a new game or a saved game), everything is fixed, though, so just memorize where the Continue Game button is and you're fine.

in my brief time with it the controls were tough. Middle mouse button etc.

So its pretty well documented that there are no black people walking around this game but I noticed something just now, there are black people on the basketball court. I highly doubt that Colossal order is intentionally being racist but if EA relegated all the black people in their game to basketball courts I don't think it would go over well.

Lol, I was looking at my citizens the other day trying to see if they appeared to be of different ethnicity. I never looked at the courts. I just looked along the sidewalks.

                        Re: Cities: Skylines

I just picked this up. Is a fun game and I like the graphical look of it but have one issue... It seems to be too easy and forgiving.

Just running tests at the moment and I never have seem to have any issues regardless of layout. Is there a difficulty option somewhere or a mod that increases the difficulty?

I see red houses that just continue to plod along occupied even when positioned right next door to industry or commercial buildings. I deliberately designed a terrible city but it's still making money.

Definitely having fun with it but wish there was more to it than no consequences. One other thing, which might be in most city building games (haven't played many) is demolishing buildings or re-zoning. Unhappy houses, just demolish or re-zone and there was no punishment from it.

I haven't fired it up in a while, but I do remember there being a hardcore, or hard mode. I didn't try it out. My first city has over 30,000 people(I don't remember the exact number, it's been too long), and I have well over a million in the bank while making tons more every week. I took my time with the city though. It's the only one I've had since I bought it, but I did think it was pretty easy as I only had one instance where I truly struggled.

The biggest issue I had was having enough classrooms for all ages. Once I got that caught up, though, I haven't been struggling anywhere really.

Thanks, I'll have to google the hardcore mode as I'm not seeing it in my options.

The biggest issue I've found with difficulty is how easy it is to get money early on. The loans are such low interest and you can pay them back whenever you want....and once they're paid back you can take out another.
Basically, if I really need to get that fire station down....I can pay back my loan that I owe 5K on & take out a 21k loan the very next instant.

Of course once your city hits a few thousand people the money will really start to roll in & loans don't matter.

I'm still having fun with the game though.

I do agree that the cities become very profitable very quickly. I was about 30 years in with a $7M bankroll, decided I needed to revamp my entire mass transit system and it only cost me $2m and I still have $40k a month coming in. I think it's be design though, Cities is about the joy of building.

I'm working on a new city now, just passed 110k in population. Im working on a strip of sorts for my CBD. It's funny in that I'll have a nasty traffic jam, I'll spend 30 minutes fixing it, only to have the traffic from that intersection move to another section. Pretty awesome feeling getting it resolved though.
