Here is a link which explains all of the transportation options: http://www.cimexchange.com/page/inde...transport-r124
Reading this just made me that much more excited for this game. Last time I was this excited was when SC2013 came out and that excitement was tempered in the days and weeks before launch as negative information emerged. This game is the opposite for me, I am getting more and more excited.

Re: Cities: Skylines
What they've shown so far looks very promising, and the game seems to have been built around fixing all the issues that Sim City had.Watched the dev diaries last night, spent about 2 hours really looking at the game. Here are my thoughts on some of the features:
The good:
-the engine looks great, just from looking at gameplay it looks like a great sim
-Different zoning option for commercial stores and offices. This is big as a office park doesn't need or want heavy traffic.
-The road tools look very cool, making a realistic highway interchange will be very easy
-mod support, this is a big one. Healthy mod support can make a good game great.
-water behaves like it should. A small touch but very cool.
-Huge map! With mod support it can be up to 100 sq km.
-districts, awesome feature!
-the small stuff: these guys just nail it. I dig micromanaging my cities and they give me the tools to do so
The Bad:
- no terraforming in the city mode
-Small airport that doesn't auto terraform land: airports are generally on very flat land...
-Variety of building not great
-Highways and roads look a little bland
-Path finding for citizens a bit off, looks like it could use some tuning
The Ugly:
-Cities: Skylines has a bad name. It will do them a disservice having a similar name to the steaming pile of poo that is Cities:XXL
This is a day one buy for me. Even if it fails I don't care, they are trying to accomplish something special and that's important to me.
I'm cautiously optimistic, however I feel like the game needs to be stress tested. People need to fool around with the settings in-game to see if anything ends up not working as intended. There are so many variables in these types of games, the algorithms they use must be so complex. A lot of the issues with Sim City were uncovered after people had time to mess around with the settings.
I'm diffidently leaning towards buying it, this game genre has so much potential. How reliable is this developer? Have their previous games been buggy?Comment

Re: Cities: Skylines
The good thing is that Paradox is involved. Even if the game isn't what it could be right out of the box, you can bet there will be a huge commitment to tuning and expanding the original game.
If you haven't played Europa Universalis IV (highly recommended - if you see it on sale buy it), check out the Steam page for it and see how much they've tweaked and added to the experience outside of paid DLC (which they are still releasing even though the game is almost 2 years old.).Comment

If the people don't know who Paradox is and their history, watch this interview they did recently. Angry Joe held no punches with his questions and they answered them brutally honest.

LOL this interview is absolute gold. So funny seeing these devs admitting what a ****ty job they've done with some of their games. If the people don't know who Paradox is and their history, watch this interview they did recently. Cities: Skylines
As far as I'm concerned; this game is only $30, i have no problem paying for DLC. That's actually something that makes me really excited for this game, I know that this game will be supported with DLC. And patches much longer than normal AAA games.
The real question is how well with this game do in regards to simcity's success. Will skylines bury simcity or will maxis make a resurgence, everyone says competition breeds success so we will see.

Re: Cities: Skylines
game is looking really good. you can do quite a lot with Highways/road and custom on/off ramps. I've only been looking here and there on the stream from quill, so I've missed a lot.Comment
