Re: no backward compatibility on next xbox

    I think it's a mistake, too.
I still think that we'll see some sort of storage device for the next Xbox - perhaps a flash memory unit large enough to function as a hard drive - but if that doesn't happen either, the Xbox is going to be in big trouble unless Microsoft has cards up their sleeve they haven't shown yet... and that's possible.

I suspect that the backwards compatibility issues are more due to the Xbox/ATI agreement that makes it difficult, if not impossible from a legal standpoint to utilize proprietary NVIDIA technologies rather than a reluctance to doing so.

      This Xbox is Intel/NVidia.

      Next Xbox is AMD/ATI.

Where is the surprise there'd be no backwards compatibility?

I don't care about backward compatibility but no HD, I'm not buying an Xbox 2.

Aren't some of the dev kits for XBox Next actually IBM Power PC chips (I've heard even similar to the G5s in Apple's Power Macs). Hmm.....Microsoft and Apple at it again?!?!?

I don't care if Xbox Next doesn't have backward compatibility because I only own one non-sport game that I will be traded in within a few months anyways.

But I will be upset if it doesn't support Custom Soundtracks because I love this feature. I'm still on the fence if I should trade in my Xbox when Xbox Next comes out or keep it.
