It's pretty fun. I'm not any good at it yet because I don't know the meta around the characters.

Hanzo is a badass though.

Entirely not sure what the e-sports scene will be around it, though, some things need to be worked out for that to happen.

I always saw this as a TF2 competitor, and that game doesn't really have an eSports scene.

It's Blizz. They are going to push for it, especially since they see how much CS:GO is growing from e-sports. The thing is, they also need to fix the mistakes they made with Heroes of the Storm, because that is also supposed to be their e-sports baby, but they are on the verge of blowing that scene completely.

CSGO was a dead game a couple years ago. The skins update (along with the betting) and professional matches made that game boom.

They are on the verge of doing the same thing with Hearthstone too. I used to play daily, but everything they've done in the past few months has killed a ton of interest in the game. Some big name streamers/pros are dropping off, the subreddit for the game has been in a meltdown for the past week with people fed up with the game. They aren't on top of making balance changes so the meta becomes stale and out of control. Not to mention the balance changes they make are so drastic, they essentially remove cards from the game by making them unplayable.

They aren't on top of the competitive scene as well as Valve is. Dota and CS:GO are tweaked in much better ways. Most of the moves they've made recently has seemed to pushed the game more towards the casual side, rather than competitive which is insane given it's consistently the 3rd/4th most viewed game on Twitch behind League, CSGO, and occasioanly Dota.

Not to mention their last expansion of cards was extremely underwhelming aside from 1 card which is so unbalanced its pretty much ruined ranked play.

I don't even bother playing the ranked mode anymore because you see the same 3 decks 90% of the time and none are fun to play against.
