What was wrong with Black Flag when it was released?

Didn't it have frame rate issues?

I never had any in black flag. That game was put in current gen first....i think it just hit a graphics boost.

        This year is just awful

I've bought / played every version of AC since the start, even played every hand held version. AC3 was a little boring (though enjoyed ending!), hated the boat/shipping in Black Flag (but still finished), but Unity has ruined the series for me. I can't enjoy it on any level. I hope they right the ship with Victory, but at this point I've lost faith in the developers....

Hopefully Victory is a different studio than the makers who gave us Unity. Anyone know?

I experienced zero frame rate issues with Black Flag on PS4.

Now Unity has been a different beast. Frame rate issues abound in it.

That would rock for a setting. Love me some Shogun.

I only started the franchise with Black Flag as the naval battles and Caribbean setting won me over and it was my 2013 game of the year. Currently 2/3rds through Rogue. Tried out Unity but it's going to be a while before I play it. Played AC II this past summer but quit halfway through as it was just boring and too slow paced for me. Obviously, it's never a smart decision to play previous games in a franchise.

Victory is being developed by the Quebec studio. They developed AC III for Wii U and all of the DLC for AC III in general. Below is a rundown of their games. It's not exactly good but I think a fresh studio developing Victory is a good thing.

I can't help but feel disappointed because I'm not a huge AC fan and it mean I likely won't see another splinter cell until 2016 or even 2017 (if at all)

Victory is being made by Ubisoft Montreal

Maybe I just have extremely low expectations and easily pleased or a very short memory than everyone else, but I still like the franchise and enjoy Unity. But to each their own.

I had no issues with Black Flag, and can't recall any issues it did have, so I think it's unfair to say Ubisoft has ruined the past few releases. As far as I can tell from most people here, Unity is the only one (aside from ACIII for story/boring reasons) that people don't like thanks to changes in the gameplay and technical issues.

Hmmm, No. Victory is being developed by Ubisoft's Quebec studio and has nothing to do with Ubisoft's Montreal studio.

Feudal Japan would be interesting to me. A good mix of small towns, cities, and wilderness.

Their reasoning for not doing Japan is that it's been done by a lot of other games, and they prefer periods/places less explored by other games. I kinda get that.
