Total War: Attilla
Anyone else scooping this up? Any remarks on gameplay or anything? I put in my preorder last weekend, but historically speaking Attilla was one of my favorites. So I definitely wanted to get this one. Hoping it can match the likes of Medieval 2. I loved that game.NCAA BBALL10 PS3

Re: Total War: Attilla
My last Total war was Empires and I was not impressed. My favorite by far was the original Rome. So with that said, should I get Rome 2 or Attilla TW fans? -
Re: Total War: Attilla
From reviews and such I would say give Attilla a shot, they added some of the missing features back that Rome 2 is missing. Rome 2 was not very good to start, and they have put alot of work into it, but it still lacks for me.
I could not get enough of Rome/ME2/Empire, but with Rome 2 I've only been able to play for a few turns at a time before turning it off.Comment

Re: Total War: Attilla
I probably wont get into it until this weekend. But I at least feel psyched up about Attilla. Using the horde, breaking down Rome, whats there not to love? LolNCAA BBALL10 PS3

Re: Total War: Attilla
It's all fun and games until everyone declares war on you.
As the Geats I took out the other two Viking factions, then franks and Saxons plus grabbed a few dead city spots. Made some allies and was doing really well.
Then Picts, Britains, and Caledonians declared war and brought 2-3 full stacks of troops each. I have two full stack and don't have the money to make a 3rd, while my allies stay home.
After a few big battles and the burning of two of my cities, 8 more factions declare war on me.
I think the end is near

I'm hoping to have something more to add this weekend. I really am enjoying what time I have had to play this game.NCAA BBALL10 PS3

Re: Total War: Attilla
With that said, Attila is a really good buy if you're a fan of the series. Its HARD though. I mean unforgivingly hard. I'm playing as the Visogoths now who have no home. They are just two armies roaming the countyside laying waste to Western Roman cities. I've had to start over about 10 times because I would waste a couple of turns in the same spot and would get rolled up on by either a Western Roman army or a more powerful Eastern Roman army with like 3500 troops. I cant speak for the other nations/races but if you are the Visogoths you need to just be on the move all the time just sacking cities along the way until you can put a little distance between yourself and Rome then find a good fat nice sized city to take over and build your empire from there.__________________________________________________ ____

Re: Total War: Attilla
Okay while I don't condone bootlegging software, I did it for Rome II the day pior to Atilla coming out. I ONLY did it to see if the Emporers edition fixed a lot of complaints about the day 1 Rome II. The Emporers edition of Rome II DOES fix a lot of things but after buying Attila on Steam the next day I took Rome II off my machine (it was the plan anyways).

I tried empires again and maybe Im just growing away from this type of game but the turn based stuff is boring as hell. I dont remember this being the case with the original Rome. Its almost like there is to much stuff or the menus just poorly laid out. I feel overloaded with options and no clue where to begin.
If i remember correctly the original Rome you started with one location and worked out from there. Where Empires im starting with 4 to 9 countries off the bat, it leaves me scratching my head what to do.
I also find the enemy AI to good at arranging its troops for battles. Almost like you cant ever catch them with a sneaking flank or cavalry charge behind their troops.
Im not sure if its me who has changed or the series but im afraid to pull the trigger on the nee ones because i dislike empires.

I would say Attila is for people who want to be immersed in the game and enjoy a challenge. Those who want more of a casual experience probably will like some of the earlier games.≡Comment
