As far as everyone knows, they won't be making any sequels and just releasing patches every month, maybe even a paid "expansion" in fall.

They also have a new hardware developer for the fall as well, so prices may go down even more for the "older" instruments so keep on the lookout.

The big update this fall will definitely be free. Details are coming out at PAX East (this weekend?). I think they mentioned considering paid expansions down the line to help offset continued development and support costs, but nothing definite on that front.

Did the cymbal expansion ever come out yet?

Yes. It doesn't sound like they are considerably any better than the RB3 cymbals though. Maybe when hardware switches over to PDP.

@RockBand has been live-tweeting their PAX East panel and announced a bunch of features which will appear in the game by the end of the calendar year, including:

• Online multiplayer (Holiday 2016)
• Music library filtering / ratings / hiding songs (fall update)
• ION drum kit support on XBOX One (fall update?)
• Practice mode (June update)
• Double kick pedal support (May update)

They also hinted at a big feature in the fall update which is not online multiplayer.

Also worth noting that monthly updates will pause in July as Harmonix prepares the larger fall update.

Oh wow. I thought it already was.

Nope. They thought RB2, LEGO, and AC/DC would be up two months ago. Something screwed up in the process and the exports (or at least LEGO) were available for purchase for an hour or so. Harmonix decided to go silent after that, so who knows where progress stands. Maybe they'll be ready tomorrow, or it could be six more months. Meh.

What's your setup? Just HDMI to TV? Surround system? There's more delay than previous games, but one of the patches a few months ago got it a lot closer for many people.

I don't think they announced a new ION kit, just a new adapter that would let you use the old ones on Xbox One. I'd assume new hardware either way though, yeah.

PAX East announcements

May: Battleborn characters – These were announced at the Gearbox panel on Friday, but we’re confirming them for the May update hitting soon.

May: Double kick support – Yep, you’ll be able to use that other port on your drums to use double kick pedals for tougher songs.

June: Practice Mode -- All the features you’d expect are here. Picking sections of a song, slowing them down, vocal pitch guides, etc.

Summer: Pausing updates -- Here’s when we wrap up “Chapter One” of Rock Band 4 and put a pause on updates. We have some huge features in store for the fall, and we want to give them the attention from the dev team they deserve.

Fall: Expansion Pack -- In the fall, we’re launching our first ever expansion pack, which is going to have some really big features attached to it, which haven’t been seen in Rock Band before. Much more to come about everything here at E3.

Fall: Music Library Enhancements -- Arriving alongside the expansion pack (But available to everyone with Rock Band 4), we’re making a bunch of tweaks to the music library, allowing you to sort, filter, and rate songs more easily.

Holiday: SYNCHRONOUS ONLINE MULTIPLAYER -- It’s coming. We want to be sure this version of online is better than in previous games, so we’re going to be using a modified version of Quickplay that has improvements for people with differing DLC libraries and groups where a random person tries to pick every song.

Any idea what the Expansion Pack is? I'm glad we'll be able to rate songs again. I hope they let you see your rating when on the vote screen for songs.

Expansion pack is for a bunch of stuff up front (I'd guess a few modes, venues, character customization) + online for holiday + other following monthly feature updates. Once the expansion hits, those without it will only get bug fixes and/or smaller improvements like that. So it's kind of like half expansion, half season pass sort of thing?

LEGO RB export pack now available for PS4. So if you're like me and have been waiting on some of those... Search through console or web store to trigger download.
