I haven't come across those yet. I took out a herd of 4-5 Tramplers after roping down some Glinthawks. I ran through a bunch of ammo in the span of 20 minutes.

The last couple nights I've been roaming around doing anything but story or mission. View points, hunting grounds, metal flowers, etc.

Two corrupted rockbreakers were not fun. Ended up having to pop a couple cannons off a nearby Ravager to take them down

I know I'm in the the minority on this but this game has disappointed me. I like the story but the combat hasn't been that fun. It forces me into to stealth more than I like. The robots are very dangerous and that makes the world feel really dangerous and interesting but the game isn't clicking with me.

I'm only level 9 and early in the game but I also find it over whelming. With skill points, crafting, modifications, merchants selling a million different things there are too many rpg elements introduced without really explaining anything. Mordor had a ton of skills but you learned them as you went and the game did a good job of teaching you. This game is very unkind in that respect and I find myself a bit lost and frustrated. I enjoyed UC4 more. It was simpler with combat that was more fun.

Hey Rudy, thanks for sharing your experience so far man

Do you know which skills you plan on going for first? I went with a lot of the forager skills first and I found myself not need merchants at all until later in the game. I think it is the skill line on the far right that has resource related skills.

Stealth definitely is a part of combat almost by default. I get what you are saying there.

Once the map opens up there are definitely an overwhelming amount of things popping up all over the place for you to discover. I felt that too at a certain point early on.

I hope you stick with it and I hope it gets better for you!

You should definitely keep playing Rudy.

The combat/gameplay/stealth is awesome. On hard, I cleared out every animal location at least once on the entire map and never once got bored or tired of the combat.

Overwhelmed? I'm assuming you haven't played RPG's of any kind because if anything, Horizon is LIGHT on all the RPG elements and aspects. The skill tree and setup is more Far Cry than anything else.

For majority of gamers, Horizon is easily the game of the year thus far and will most likely stay that way for me barring some miracle classic at the end of the year. Seriously, the game is awesome and the combat/stealth/gameplay is so damn satisfying. You should really keep playing.

I'm going to keep playing. Right now it just feels like I'm playing because I bought it lol. The only RPG I enjoyed was DAI. Learning all the crafting and tedious stuff takes time. I have to enjoy the combat to work through the other stuff. And even in DAI I was lost for 10-20 hours and may have quit if I didn't have something else to play.

I can see why people really love the game. Great graphics, interesting story and world. It's just not grabbing me. Honestly, I opened up my skills this morning and I had 13 points I hadn't even used. Getting the skill to slow down time was nice. I hope the combat gets better for me.

Jarebear I don't even know what type of Aloy I want to become other than successful. I have died quite a bit. There are new weapons to buy from merchants but I have no clue what to buy. I just upgraded the ones I have this morning too. I might have to get a guide or something. It seems impossible to survive a swarm of machines if they spot you. I guess I enjoyed the shooting action sequences in a game like Uncharted more where I can move from cover spot to somewhere else while I take care of business. This game is different and I haven't adjusted.

                  Re: Horizon: Zero Dawn

I know what you mean buddy. I think there's 7 or 8 total different weapons, and like 4 different types of those weapons (rarity wise). Typically when you get a newer/rarer version it has a new kind of ammo. I think the idea is by the end you can have 4 weapons slotted at once that at any given time could be used to exploit a specific weakness of any bot you encounter.

Once you clear all the cauldrons, which is one of the first things I did (and can be difficult if you are under leveled) you will be able to override even some really tough beasts and that can be very helpful in a group fight. A single overridden ravager can take our 3 or 4 beasts on your behalf, and then you pop off its cannon when you kill it yourself and that alone can help you take out massive beasts or a bunch of smaller ones.

Memorizing the specific weaknesses of each beasts and their critical hit areas goes a long way. It just took me practice to get a routine for all of them.

Early in the game I remember the tripcaster was very helpful for me. Not sure which weapons you have equipped so far

There's a rattler that is kind of like a mini-gun, or I guess it's described as a "short range bolt gun." I guess as well as cannons you can rip off of certain bots and use yourself

So, I did a side quest and got a weapon as a reward that I didn't know existed in the game. No vendors sell it. I went nuts playing with that thing.

...still didn't help me kill the rockbreaker in the quarry. I hate that machine

So, I started a side-quest the other night that lead me to a quarry with a rockbreaker in it. I quit for the evening because I didn't feel like dealing with him at 11PM on a Sunday.

Last night I played for about 45 minutes and never downed the bitch. I got him down to 50% several times and even got him down to 25% a handful of times, but once he starts charging at the end I lose my ****.

Of course I entered with only 1.5 health bars and no health potions so we'll see how it goes tonight.

I also stumbled on that rock breaker way too early exploring. Had to cheese the battle after a few failed attempts at trying to take him on face to face.
