I grabbed this game about 5 or 6 months ago on sale. I've tried a few times to get into it, but I just couldn't. I'd get to the part where you get the tripcastor (or whatever its called) and I just lose interest. I also had other games coming out that I was more interested in. My current save is right after The Proving. I'm gonna start a new game and see where it gets me. I'm wrapping up RDR2 and Spiderman, so I need a good single player game to get me to Resident Evil 2 in Janurary.

Re: Horizon: Zero Dawn
Still running through RDR2, which will take me a while at the pace I've been playing it. Seeing this thread pop up again though...makes me want to play Horizon again lol. My favorite game in a long, long time. Gameplay, story, graphics, atmosphere...this game has it all for me. Such an awesome world to explore. As mentioned, the DLC was awesome as well.
Don't get me wrong, I'm loving RDR2. But there's just something about Horizon, such an amazing game. I will eventually play through it again, and try to get 100% (which I've never done in a game).
I told my wife our next dog would be a female named Aloy, she wasn't buying that though lol.Comment

Re: Horizon: Zero Dawn
I'd also recommend playing on Easy so you can experience the story (which is really good). You won't have to worry quite as much about crafting/collecting items on this setting.I was in the exact same boat as you. I didn’t realize how RPG heavy the game was. I was expecting it to be more like Uncharted but it’s not. They throw all these weapons out there, collecting and things I felt over whelmed. Furthermore it’s not really a shooter. It’s more stealth based and difficult. I quit after 10 hours.
But I gave it another chance a year later and ended up really enjoying it. Don’t worry so much about the weapons. You can get by with just using your bow and the tripcaster. Other weapons can be ok but not necessary. The story is good but also long. I played on Easy the second time and that also helped.Currently Playing:

Re: Horizon: Zero Dawn
Frozen wilds is amazing may be even better than main game it is that good. I still need to do a second play threw and do side missions. I beat the story and frozen wilds but did like no side missions. I also do just like story and like no side missions on my first play threw on games and than go back and beat it again doing side missions if it is a game I like a lot and this is my favorite excusive on ps4 cant wait for a sequel and I think we will get one around launch of ps5.
Yeah, this is definitely my favorite PS4 exclusive. Probably in my top 5 games of all time, actually. Can't wait for the sequel, either. I'm thinking/hoping that it will be a launch title for PS5. That would be huge for them.#LFC

Re: Horizon: Zero Dawn
Love this game, especially when you figure out how to take down the machines. You really have to know each machines strength and weakness. I love using Tear on machines and taking out major parts of each machine. It is also fun taking control of a machine and watching it fight others. This game also has a great story as well. Between the main story and Frozen Wilds I easily sunk in over 100 hours.

Re: Horizon: Zero Dawn
Need help with understanding where my power cells went so I can complete the Armor mission.
I distinctly remember picking up the power cells at all the locations and when I went back to the ruins to place them I was only able to place 1 and the mission says Gather Power Cells 1 of 3.
I went back to one of the early Mothers locations to check to see if there was a cell there and there where none to be found.
Any ideas would be appreciated.

I figured out what happened, I was confused thinking there was only 3 Power Cells to find. I found the original 2 and placed them. Didn’t realize that I just found the 1st of 3 which would total 5. I thought it counted the original 2 towards the 3. I found the 4th and haven’t gotten to the 5th yet.

Re: Horizon: Zero Dawn
Shame on you smallville!!! Go finish those side quests damn it!!! LOL.
Like I said in the PlayStation 4 topic, Horizon is an amazing game and was also my 2017 game of the year. Still also the best looking game this gen and the best implementation of HDR thus far. What a superb game.Comment

It would have been my GOTY if not for Zelda BOTW and I cant wait for the sequel and I think it will be a launch or close to it game for ps5. I have a hard time with my backlog of games and I like never do side missions on a first play threw of a game.Shame on you smallville!!! Go finish those side quests damn it!!! LOL.

Re: Horizon: Zero Dawn
Meh regarding BOTW. Quit it after 22 hours. Horizon simply does everything better in my opinion but to each their own. You should play the side quests on your first play through because this way, once you complete the main quest/story, you know the game is done.Comment

Re: Horizon: Zero Dawn
BOTW is the best game ever made to me. Horizon is great but only like top 25ish. While I tend to never do side missions on a first play threw for a few reasons. 1 I can beat the game faster and known what happends faster by beating the game faster. 2 Gives me like another reason to go threw a game again so like more replay value. 3 makes the game kind of harder by having less xp and not being has powerful. Did the same thing with spiderman and by the time I did 1 play threw and then started over and did all the dlc's for the first time and all side missions I put like 80 hours into it. BOTW I have put like 220+ hours in and still need to do a lot and Horizon I have put like 35 hours into.Comment

Horizon: Zero Dawn
Did you play red dead 2 and also not do any side missions? I can’t imagine doing that for a game like that. You would miss so much of the story.
And just to stay on topic I’ll say I prefer HZD over botw also. I actually preferred assassins creed origins over it too. Those are all easily comparable for me since I played them around the same time. The open world of Origins and Horizon were on another level for me. Nothing against botw. Great game. That world just felt empty at times.Last edited by ricky24; 03-01-2019, 01:05 PM.Comment

Re: Horizon: Zero Dawn
I put around 120 hours into the base game of Horizon and another 40 or so with the expansion. You have more hours in BOTW than I have in any game ever with the lone exception being The Witcher 3.BOTW is the best game ever made to me. Horizon is great but only like top 25ish. For me, The Witcher III, Horizon and AC Origins/Odyssey surpass BOTW in every aspect. The only positive I give BOTW is that the bow and arrow is better than Geralt's one handed bow. Other than that, I just didn't see it.And just to stay on topic I’ll say I prefer HZD over botw also. I actually preferred assassins creed origins over it too.
