    Re: Horizon: Zero Dawn

Pc port is out today, and port seems to be the key word. I've seen a few reports that the game is poorly optimized for pc

Character lips don't match audio (models seem to be locked at 30fps even if the rest of the game runs at 60)
Frame rate issues on mid tier systems

Arstechnica review said that had a decent experience at 4k, but it was still a bit sluggish. This was on a high end rug, 2080 ti and over clocked i7 8700k processor. It ran better at 1440, but still encountered a number of issues. On their mid tier testing system

A friend of mine has been playing it for a few hours. Not sure on his cpu but he has a 1070 ti. He is reporting that the game runs fine, but has crashed numerous times in the few hours since he bought it this morning.

I might still get it on steam since there is the option to refund if it's too buggy. I have a pretty decent rig and I loved the game too much on ps4 to not give it a try.

      Re: Horizon: Zero Dawn

I can wait until they patch it for better optimization and/or a price drop/sale. Still feels pretty damn disappointing considering the empty landscape of game releases lately. Especially since Death Stranding was optimized very well.

      Oh well.

        Re: Horizon: Zero Dawn

Quick update. My friends crashing issues have been completely cleared up by switch to full screen (as opposed to borderless).

Kind of sucks to have to do that, but at least it seems to be an easy work around.

I plan on installing the game tonight or tomorrow and will report on my experiences

I got my FOMO fix via some streams, will grab this later at a discount because of the launch issues.

Will hop on games like this and Control when the 3080ti hits probably.

Control is nice, but the gameplay isn't that fresh to begin the game. The atmosphere and the story are the driving force for me so far, but I haven't progressed far enough to really build up any powers.

I loved Horizon. An excellent game. Control was great and looking forward to the Alan Wake crossover in the AWE expansion later this month.

It’s a different type of game. I wasn’t crazy about the player movement early in too (seemed overly fast and twitchy). This isn’t a shooter either. It’s far more about using traps and trip wires and things to take down dinosaurs. I actually quit the game on my first try and after giving it a second try a year later I liked it a lot more. Partially because I knew what to expect and also I switched to easy lol. The game could be hard. The story was cool although it’s a long game to see how it ends.

Sorry, Control is the name of another game.

                    Sorry the confusion the guys!

This is without a doubt a top 5 game for me this generation and probably my favorite PS4 exclusive. Disappointing news about the port so far, but I'll play it on PC at some point.

                      Just saw an update

I'm waiting on a sale to pick it up, but it does sound like they have been cleaning up the bugs since release.

That's good to hear. I would love to run through it again (or I guess for the 3rd or 4th time) on PC. Hopefully Sony releases more exclusives to PC in the near future.

Man I am so glad I did not give up on this game, though I certainly took my time.

67 hours in, still only 59.4% of the main story completed.

                          Well worth its reputation.

                          Plain epic.

                            Re: Horizon: Zero Dawn

After approximately 97 hours of uninterrupted (I mean, by other titles) gameplay and with just under 80% of the main story completed, I have made a strategic mistake and wandered into the Frozen Wilds.

I got greedy and thought I'd get som new weaponry and/or outfits before my final battles with the Eclipse. However, I quickly realized that the expansion is much bigger then I thought and suddenly I felt so tired and exhausted that I had to give myself a break.

                            That was two months ago.

This past week, after completing 2.5 other games in the meantime, I have fired up Horizon Zero Dawn again. I have exited the Frozen Wilds and returned to finish the main story first. At first, I felt strangely disconnected from the game and the story, even questioned my immediate willingness to continue, but thankfully, things again got real hot real fast and now after 10 more hours of gameplay and with 88% of the main story completed, I am again immersed into this incredible, breath-taking world. The story just keeps getting better, the cinematics keep getting better, even the music somehow keeps getting better.

I do not know if I can finish this game during Easter holidays but man, I am not gonna put this game down again anymore until all is said and done, and fought.

                            Plain incredible.

The frozen wilds I think was even better and more fun than the main game and the like bear creatures are my favorite.

The fact that in the sequel they are expanding on going into the water adds a lot of interesting possibilities. Like just think if you have to fight a shark or something with a torpedo or something. Horizon is my favorite ps4 excuse and I would say my all time favorite Sony game.
