Game is still a GOTY candidate for me and I only played the single player campaign. Excellent game and an excellent job done by The Coalition.

Just ordered this last night and will have it on Monday. I spent absurd amounts of time in Gears 2 (hit level 100), but didn't play a ton of Gears 3 and never touched Judgment. I'm excited to jump back into the multiplayer.

I'm biased when it comes to Gears but yes GOTY definitely well at least top two for me.

I was more so speaking on the thread activity and multiplayer, as it seems not many around here play Gears online compared to Battlefield.

I really liked the game, but I'm ready to trade it in already. I don't see any free maps coming considering they are selling a $50 DLC pass. Online is 75% people using shotguns and I'm sure they'll nerf the hammerburst because the shotgun kids are crying that there is actually a defense for it.

Maps will definitely be free. Anyone who bought the seasons pass essentially got screwed.

Can't say that I blame you, I got some solid dudes I've been playing with since Gears 2-3 struggling with the game currently and a group I met playing Ultimate that never played 3 also struggling.

I really liked the game, but I'm ready to trade it in already. I don't see any free maps coming considering they are selling a $50 DLC pass. Online is 75% people using shotguns and I'm sure they'll nerf the hammerburst because the shotgun kids are crying that there is actually a defense for it.

If you visit the gears forums you'll actually find more lancer guys complaining about it than shotgun guys. Bottom line the hammerburst is OP at the moment ridiculously OP, my group has a house rule of one player using it only. I can literally down guys across the map with two shots, just imagine my squad having total map position firing on one guy at a time with a weapon that can pick off an enemy one by one with no assistance or back up even needed.

I'll say the enforcer is the shotgun defense/counter, shotgun guys will miss since most of the time they'll be wall bouncing or strafing. The coalition should increase the lancer a tad and decrease the hammerburst a tad then everything will be balanced.

This is the 6th Gears if we're counting the remaster last year and the train wreck that was judgement. With judgement being the only exception you always know what your getting into with Gears it's shotgun and wall bounce heavy.

Yes, the season pass is actually a joke we'll get free maps but only for private use. The ones for multiplayer use will rotate out each month taking away the previous two, basically you didn't need the season pass for access to new maps unless you wanted to test them out before non season pass owners got the chance to play them.

Gameplay wise the coalition did a amazing job with this being the first true gears created by the studio from the ground up, especially catering to the fan base that kept the series alive.

Season pass and micro transaction side of things they dropped the ball. They should go the way of Gears 2-3 for season pass owners, if you had the season pass for the snow blind maps for example they would keep those maps in rotation forever for multiplayer and private. If you didn't those maps just wouldn't pop up for you.

Now just give me rotating lobbies for core modes and I'll be more than satisfied with the game.

For me, it's tied with Uncharted 4 but if I had to choose between the two, I would choose Gears of War 4 simply because I enjoyed it more than I did Uncharted 4.

I pretty much only play the campaign and co-op elements (I include Horde in that). The competitive multiplayer was fun for me for awhile in Gears 1 but it just became too annoying for me

Campaign co-op is ridiculously fun as well as Horde, tho
