Agreed. First time I did, it was so oddly satisfying that I intentionally drag another body a good distance mid-mission just so i could feed them again.

After just beating The Last of Us it took me a while to get out of stealth mode, had to realize that this isn't a stealth game, this is a shoot'em up game! Once I realize that and got use to the controls im really feeling the game now.

A solid 8 out of 10 for me. Very good story.

Hmmm see i never played max payne 3 which is a game i liken this too since STORY is the driving force of the game NOT open world

Well... MP3 wasn't open world though. It was 100% a linear, story-driven game.

Side note: it was also one of my favorite games last gen.

                  Ok cool.

Unfortunately little things like this bug me i want more choice in how the character looks while in free roam.

                  Info i found:
                  How to change Lincoln’s appearance

You can’t. At least when it comes to his facial features. Lincoln’s face has a set look that cannot be changed. His haircut and outfit will change several times during the story, but you won’t be able to influence those changes. How to change character outfits

<i> This feature wasn’t planned, so it won’t be present at launch. There will be several points in the game when Lincoln changes his clothes, but you won’t have a say in what he wears. For a while, you’ll be stuck with his army green jacket, or whatever the devs felt was appropriate.

                  <ins datetime="2016-10-07T08:02:24+00:00">
</ins></i> However, since fans have been pretty vocal about character customization, 2K have announced they’ll be adding the option post-launch. They’re going to release a free DLC pack with different outfits and costumes, as well as the ability to switch them at will. In short – you’ll have to wait if you want Lincoln to wear a suit and tie.

There’s no word on a release date yet, but it’s probably going to happen during the first month. Most importantly, it’s going to be free.

See, for me personally I DO like the lack of choice. I like to feel I'm living through the character; his look, his clothes, etc. I'm almost completely opposite in that too much customization takes me OUT of the experience and this other person's life and story I'm supposed to be living.

                      Re: Mafia 3

Played two hours last night, and I'm loving it so far. Story so far really engaging and fun, and while I haven't really noticed terrib le ai, I feel like the complaints about it are exaggerated. Actually, it just feels like a normal release thread around the OS, some people freak out, others don't. Nothing really new there.

Anywho, I haven't played enough to see what kind of customization there is for cars, clothes, etc, or even if there is any. I wouldn't be heartbroken if there isn't. For me personally, when there is less for me to get distracted by, like changing my clothes, hair cuts, etc (like GTA) I tend to enjoy the game more as I actually play the story and game and it doesn't take me ages to finish the game due to getting sidetracked.

Love the setting so far too. I stopped playing last night right as I was carrying some dude around I believe the french quarter. So I haven't explored a ton yet, but so far the city, and cars have been fun. Also, the soundtrack is awesome. Love this era, and music that goes with it.

All in all, I'm glad I tend to not buy into the mass hysteria that comes before big releases, as they are usually exaggerated and the issues don't bother me unless game breaking.

Loving every second of this game so far. Once it really opens up, it's jaw dropping.

The "Paint it Black" scene rivals the "Power" scene from Saints Row 3 with music and what's going on.

                          Re: Mafia 3

After playing for five or so hours and unlocking the first underboss and bankrupting the first district, here are my own personal positives and negatives thus far -

                          POSITIVES
                          - Story and characters. Thus far, top notch and even characters you want to hate, you can't because that's how well done this has been thus far. Sitting around the table early on with Lincoln and others (won't spoil who) felt like Scarface. The "paint it black" segment was excellent and my goodness, what an opening. Granted, it's more on less on rails and linear but my goodness, so very well done.

                          - Story telling, facial animations, etc. By story telling, I mean having the old films with the characters talking about everything in the past tense. It's simply excellent and loving this setup thus far especially since few games do this.

                          - Music, locale, atmosphere, immersion, etc. I'm going to call it what it is - NEW ORLEANS. The locale is excellent and the music simply pulls you in to where you don't want to leave. I have only been going from point A to point B thus far so I haven't really seen anything outside of the opening and prologue but what I have seen all looks very good. Not great but very good. The vibe and tone is what makes the locale stand out.

                          - Gameplay. To an extent, the gameplay is good. The shooting isn't easy if you have aim assist off which I do and the guns do have a weight to them. But it's so satisfying blasting someone with a shotgun in the face. Really enjoying the stealth especially once you get the knife. Oh man, very brutal. Love being able to whistle to lure enemies over but I never really hear Lincoln whistle. LOL. Driving takes some getting used to if you're playing on simulation like I am. Still feels good especially since im using the "far out" camera that's behind the car by about 8-10 feet. Cover system is okay but I don't like the "thump" he makes when going into cover and moving around cover or cover to cover isn't that good. Quite honestly, The Division ruined me when it comes to cover to third person shooters. Overall though, still easily acceptable and for the most part, good.

                          - Collectables. This is a cheap positive. Majority may not care but collecting all the Playboy magazines and paintings is a good cheap relaxed thrill. LOL. I also like that there's "parts" that you can collect which im assuming will be used to upgrade the cars later on.

                          NEGATIVES
                          - Bad AI. Seriously, im playing on hard and died only once in five hours and that's because I screwed up my cover. The AI definitely needs to be fine tuned in an upcoming patch. You can go past an enemy five feet in front of you and if you're fast enough, the white arrow bar will lessen and disappear when you should be seen and gone after.

                          - No HUD options. This also needs to be patched in. Not being able to remove the arrow signs when driving/walking is annoying as is the simple fact that like The Evil Within, a lot of button prompts are stuck behind Lincoln and you can't see them unless you move the camera. The shadow effect makes the prompts look worse. Think The Division where every letter and number had that shadow effect behind it. This is especially bad when wanting to pickup and carry an enemy because it shows the directional pad and because of the shadow effect, just simply looks bad. Also, don't like that the objectives, info, etc. stay in the middle of the screen too long and after a while, it's annoying. Just give me my objectives in the corner and leave the middle of the screen alone. Basically, just needs a lot more HUD options. Simple on/off will suffice.

                          - The rear view mirror. I read that this can be disabled but I haven't seen how so if anyone knows, please let me know. In general, I hate the mirror because first, it takes up a decent amount of the top the screen and worse, if you look in it, while it will show you what's behind you, once you drive a certain distance, everything just "drops' out of the mirror and if you're in the garage after getting back your knife, you'll see a bush in the mirror and it reflecting the outside despite you being inside and having a solid wall and shelving behind you. My personal opinion would be for Hangar 13 to remove the mirror completely.

                          - Controller configuration/holding/pressing buttons. This is a minor pet peeve and while most im okay with since it's similar to Mad Max, there's a few things I don't like. I don't like having to hold the button mainly for health or whistling. Would prefer it to be just a button press instead of holding the button. Minor pet peeve though.

                          - Visuals, every enemy basically the same, pop-in, etc. On a visual tech side, there's some problems. A lot of pop-in which can happen literally right in front of you at times and while the game looks good, you can see that the environments, NPC's, etc. look somewhat outdated. Hopefully, the PS4 Pro can solve some of this with the extra graphical power. Also, lighting is bad at times and can give you bad reflections when playing. Needs to be fine tuned and lowered. Also, the draw distance is bad. I can be driving and see cars popping in as im driving. Finally, at times, there seems to be no life on. Like, it just seems bland or the NPC's are just bored. Mardi Gras for example was underwhelming because majority of NPC's were standing around and felt lifeless. I have never been to New Orleans but I know 100% that Mardi Gras is one hell of a time. In general, just okay at best. And on a related note, the NPC AI is also bad. The NPC's always cross the street when YOU have the green light. Makes no sense.

That's pretty much it thus far. Good game but definitely lacks the fine tuning and polish needed to stand out. Like the majority of games this generation, Mafia III is yet another that should have been delayed at least six months. Also, launching when it has isn't exactly doing it any favors.

Overall though for me, im enjoying it. The take over district setup is perfect for me. But in the end, it's the story, characters, story telling, facial animations, music and locale that is winning me over. Just hope that when I finally finish the game (which probably will be after the PRO releases) the ending and wrap up is good. Hoping that it doesn't fall flat.

Between now and then, im hoping that Hangar 13 patches in HUD options, allows you to remove the mirror and increases the enemy AI because it's bad. Another pet peeve I just remembered...Hangar 13 should also patch in "traffic laws". Like speeding, driving through a red light, etc. Or at the very least, patch it in and give an on/off option for it so you can play either way.

I played on PS4. No crashes, freezes or kick outs to the PS4 menu. I did buy the Deluxe Edition so I have the season pass and im hoping that some stuff gets fine tuned and improved by the Pro launch because im very interested in the expansions.

that why i feel the game should have been made linear like Max Payne but i respect the game to each their own tho.
