Man this game is really good, I'm really enjoying it. Played it for about 4 hours this afternoon, just wished I would've been Jason at least once.. but that's how RNG goes.

I'm just curious, it always seems like Jason is right on top of me and always knows where I am, even when crouching and not doing any actions with a 10/10 stealth character.. is there something I can do to dissuade him finding me?

Inversely I've seen situations where 3/4 counselors will be standing near one of the exits and Jason never sees them. It just seems real hit or miss and since I haven't played as Jason to see his general capabilities, it's really tough for me to get a gauge for what I can and can't do. At the moment I just barricade doors and bounce around from cabin to cabin, through windows if I'm being chased and have mild success (usually the rapid fire teleports is what gets me).

It sounds like you might have been in a match with some people that were in a party outside of the game and some counselors were telling Jason where you were. Maybe.

Anyway, the game is alot of fun but it's even better with friends that arent trying to screw you over. ☺

By chance did you spawn near any of the objectives (car, telephone, boat)? A lot of Jasons will morph to those one after the other to place traps at the beginning of matches, if I spawn there I either get out of there quick or immediately crouch and make as little noise as possible.

Yeah, with a 10/10 stealth character it should be pretty hard for him to pick you up with his sense ability unless your fear level is high (staying in the woods too long, being in a cabin without power, etc).

Yep, it looks like it was something along the lines of this, just luck of the draw with spawn. I didn't know Jason was given a full read out of where things were on the map, but that makes sense. I've still yet to be Jason after about 5/6 hours, really hoping to get in as him tonight!

Cool that you'd be doing everything leading up to the escape. Bet they might somehow get some AI Bots and let you play the regular game with them, but that might be too difficult.

That site was deceiving us a bit with that headline though. Not really a preview more like a single tidbit from a tweet.

Make sure to set your spawn preference as Jason. I did not have mine on him and was never spawning as him. Changed it and now get him far more frequently.

Exposes the problem I have with him: playing as Jason can be frustrating. Maybe I'm not as good as I should be, but I vary wildly in how well I do. I had a 6/7 followed by a 1/7. Now part of that was that a couple of cheaters did the roof exploit, but I have difficulty finding a working strategy. I usually start with the generators and morph to each, knocking them out. Then I morph to the cars and/or boat and sense around. If I find anyone, pursue. I've trapped around the cars before with moderate success. I have also trapped Jason's house because I had someone go there to steal the sweater.

I see best results with Jason III because he's able to run, but his sense is poor. Jason VI has good sense, but is way too slow. Looking forward to unlocking IX because his shift is supposed to be very good.

Anyone have good strategy tips for playing as Jason?

I usually go with part 6 Jason and regularly kill everyone. I immediately collect the throwing knives at the cabin, morph to the phone and trap it as that is the last thing you want the counselors to use as Jason. Then I walk to the generator near there and smash it, next I trap the four door, if their is a boat I don't bother, if it's the two door I trap it as well.

After that go hit the generators. During the period where in trapping, I don't go after counselors unless it's a super easy kill. The more time you spend chasing one person, the more time you let everyone else start putting things in place for escape. Now it's just time to go get them, the only thing different I do from other people is I don't shift grab. I shift, and then hit them with my weapon. I always try to injure a counselor before I grab, that way if they pocket knife you, they aren't getting far. Also, remember to routinely listen for sounds (trap going off, counselor messing up installing something) and check your map routinely if the map has a boat.

I do really well with part VI also. And I am 2 for 2 with Part IX for perfect 8/8s, which I hadn't done before with any other Jasons.
And yes, I would highly advise the first thing you do is to trap the phone box because if the cops get called right away by someone with a good My Father's a Cop perk you are boned.

Thanks, all. I will give that a shot, specifically focusing on the phone. I will also try out playing as VI again. I just don't like how slow moving he is, but I like the extended range the spear gives.

I use part 8 mostly. His grab is weak as hell but I love the fact that I can break down doors in 3 hits. Plus he has the best kills in the game IMO.

Part 7 is my second in command. I just hate the fact that he is dirt slow and only has a few traps

Yeah, I'm not a fan of Part 7. Way too slow.

What I really want is the ability to change weapons. III Jason with a machete, for example. I'm hopeful their eventual skins/new versions will include one from each film so we could get a IV (with head wound/broken mask - easy skin of III), V faux Jason (blue marks), Uber Jason (because why not, haha), FvJ and the remake.
