Re: Next Generation Consoles
I think they are slated to be released in Winter of 2005. Don't quote me on that though, I just got that date from the new GI with the cover of Oblivion.
On a side note, can somebody tell me if Morrowind is in first or third person?

Re: Next Generation Consoles
System releases.... based on what the companies have said to retailers and others...
The PS3 is said to be in 2006 since they are still having some kinks with this new Cell technology. Another reson for pushing it too 2006 is so that the PSP can actually get some time to sell. For 2005, Why put out possibly a $300 handheld system in the summer of 2005 and then put out a $300 console in the fall? Their handheld will suffer greatly. Hopefully they can get the price down, but even the nintedno DS at $150 is high.
Microsoft said they'll release their system first, but if Sony takes time to put out the PS3 they said they'll take time on their next system.
Nintendo, who knows when.
Funny notes: ATI is making a grachpics chip for both Micros and Nintendos next systems... and Microsoft has been sending out Mac G5s as the work stations to developers for what the next Xbox will be power wise.BeyondMediaOnline.comComment

Re: Next Generation Consoles
So many rumors floating around that no one knows for sure. I don't think the high up people at Sony and Microsoft know for sure. If I were to take an educated guess, I would say a few weeks before Christmas of 2005."20 years from now they'll be saying Willis Reed pulled a Curt Schilling." -- Theo EpsteinComment

Re: Next Generation Consoles
Both Sony and Microsoft said that the PS3 and XBox 2 will be at this years E3, but they said it doens't mean the systems will be released in 2005.
Microsoft is the only one saying that are ready for 2005 if they have to be and will get in a 6 month to 1yr lead on Sony if they can.
Spec Wise it's looking like the same thing all over again. The Xbox 2 being slightly more powerful than the PS3. I've even read that from developers commenting to gamespot. Something else some developers have stated (specifcally John Carmack of ID) is that they aren't looking foward to programing for the Xbox 2 and Nintendo system since they will be using a double GPU system and the PS3 is going to be wonky since it's powered by 12 chips that render a specific zone on the screen... that ID will still be behind PCs first and formost since it's 1 GPU and straight ahead.BeyondMediaOnline.comComment
