Wow, what a blast this game is. I've only played 2 of the campaign missions, just keep playing multiplayer. I'm not even big on online multiplayer. Usually avoid it, but this is just too damn fun!

I agree. This game is engaging and beautiful to behold. Shamefully, I'm playing on Easy but looking to improve. Does online multi-player offer different skill levels of play?

Not really. Its just battle royale style, or team death match right now. You do upgrade your planes and can purchase upgraded missles and stuff that will make you a bit more powerful. Some rooms though have value caps on them which limits how powerful your plane and loadout can be with upgrades. Some rooms also have the SP weapons disabled too. It's really going to come down to your maneuverability/flying, escapability, and attacking prowess. You don't just score points for kills. Also for assists, and hits. As long as you're doing damage, you're scoring. I think it gives you roughly 65k right off the bat for losing, and 80k for winning, plus your match/scoring bonuses after that.

That being said if you're looking to grow your bank... online is the way to do it. I first went into it just to earn some "cash", and was instantly hooked.

I played one chapter and one online mission. I’m pretty bad lol. Not exactly sure what L1 and R1 do. Any tips on avoiding getting shot at online? I’m just moving around as much as I can but I seem to be an easier target.

Your L1 and R1 triggers are your Yaw (left and right)

Practice is always the best ingredient however, PushSquare has a tips guide for beginners

God it feels great to be back in the skies! I haven't had a good dogfighting game since HAWX and HAWX 2 on the 360.

Up to the start of mission 17 in the campaign. I've been playing on Easy to start, but I'll be bumping that up when I start my next campaign playthrough. I haven't taken the dive into multiplayer yet, but I will probably do so in the next day or two.

I'm planning on sticking mainly to rooms with special weapons disabled. The big tactic everyone seems to be doing in MP, from the sounds of the comments on Reddit, is flying in circles and shootings QAAMs left and right. I'd rather take the special missiles and railguns and whatnot out of it, and leave it to the best man on the stick who can either get lined up for a quality standard missile kill or even bring guns into the picture.

Yes. I'm using the old ace combat 6 flight stick courtesy of Brook's game controller converter from Amazon and it works great.

***I'd recommend that you only plug in the stick once the game loads because the Xbox home screen goes wonky with the flight stick.

And the campaign has been beaten. I plowed through the last couple missions last night, wanting to see what happened next. Mission 19, holy **** was insanity! I LOVE the massive chaotic battles like that! Pure 100% dogfighting with literally dozens of enemy planes. It was something like 50 on 50, then you add in drones later in the mission and it just becomes a massive ****show of planes everywhere you look.

As soon as I get home from work, I'm jumping back on and replaying Mission 19 just because of how ******* fun it is!

I also dipped my feet into the multiplayer waters last night. Played two Battle Royale matches. I got my *** handed to me! Missiles up the ***. But I still had fun. And it's a great source of MRP, even if you suck, you still pull in a good amount of MRP for each 5 minute match. Makes getting those high priced planes easier.

Anyone who has this for the PS4, let me know, maybe if we have enough people, we can get some OS rooms going. Either that or do some 1 on 1 or 2 on 2 duels if there's only a couple of us.

Pancakes or anyone else who has played multiplayer- Is there an option to play co-op missions (like in Ace combat 6) or set up a private 1 v 1 game?

You can do 1 vs 1 in Battle Royale (free for all). Sadly no co-op at the moment. There are only two multiplayer modes, Battle Royale and Team Deathmatch. The hope of the community around the internet, from what I've read in various discussions, is that PA will add more multiplayer modes and maybe even add PVE or co-op missions. We'll have to wait and see for now unfortunately.

So true!!

I find that even in a team death match. Especially if you're a high scorer, and you've got the 3 stars of death as I call it. I just spent a match, had a great start, got 4 quick kills, and 6 hits, then spent the rest of that match being chased by at least 2, and sometimes 3 of the 4 on the other team while evading what seemed like endless missles chasing me.

Funny thing was, they never shot me down, and I still ended up the match MVP because they just spent the whole time chasing me around lol


Gets a bit frustrating though. Sometimes I just prefer to get shot down to re-enter the match and do some more damage... but I know if they get me, they're going to get a big score boost.
