Re: COD 4: Modern Warfare - Remastered

I'm so glad this game got remastered.

After playing all these new Call of Duty games I've forgotten how small the maps on CoD4 were. But I absolutely love how fast paced this game is. Everything feels like it did back in the day just with all the modern bells and whistles.

Re: COD 4: Modern Warfare - Remastered

One thing I'd like to see changed is the Team Deathmatch score. It needs to be set to 100 kills to win. TDM games end way too quickly with 75. I find that people are alot better at Call of Duty in general today than they were 9 years ago when CoD 4 originally launched.

I cannot wait for the rest of the maps to be released as well. Bloc, Broadcast, Chinatown, Showdown and Pipeline are maps I dearly miss and cannot wait to play again.

I've got about 4 hours of in game play time so far and I'm currently level 23. This is easily the best remaster out there. I'm not a huge fan of remasters but I'm glad this game got that treatment. Raven have done an excellent job at keeping the old school feeling of the game while adding all the modern bells and whistles. Guns feel and sound like they did back in CoD 4, maps are really well recreated with more color and detail, and it feels amazing to have a fast paced FPS that isn't too over the top or filled with gimmicks like we've had for the last few years.

What I've also found is that Juggernaut isn't nearly as annoying as I thought it was back in the day. One of my classes I've been running with is the M4 with red dot paired with the UAV Jammer perk. I've had no issues killing people. You obviously do make a sacrifice in killing power but this is what the newer games miss. It misses this balancing act like we have in CoD 4. You have stopping power, juggernaut and UAV Jammer. All super powerful perks and all in the same tier. You want extra killing power? Well you sacrifice your ability to be hidden from UAV and you don't have extra health making you prone to one hit kills from snipers. Same goes for the other perks. Want to have defense against snipers? Equip Juggernaut but now you may not drop infantry men as quick. When Infinity Ward removed Stopping Power and Juggernaut from MW2 it threw the whole balance of the game's perk system off. Perks have been an unbalanced mess ever since. It's such a breath of fresh air to have these perks balanced with each other once again.

It'll be interesting to see how people play this game in a couple weeks from now once people start unlocking more gear and perks. I haven't encountered Martyrdom yet and I've encountered Last Stand twice. Noob tubes have been rare surprisingly probably because the new generation of Call of Duty players haven't ever used it as it's not in new titles.

Anyway that's my quick thought so far. As I progress further I'll do a more detailed write up. It's a shame this isn't sold standalone but I figure it will in a couple months.

I really want to play this, but I refuse to pay for a **** game just to get a remastered version of a good one.

You have to purchase the 80 dollar version of IW. And you need both discs if you buy retail, from what I have heard.

I would be shocked if they didn't offer it as a stand alone sometime in the future............then again they might not

If they do I'd guess it won't be until January at the earliest.
I've heard this "patience is a virtue" junk all my life. I'm happy to say I have no virtue, no scruples, and no desire to wait too long for anything. In my humble opinion instant gratification takes too long!

And if they do release it as a standalone I wouldnt be surprised if it's a $60 price tag as was discussed earlier in this thread.

Can you explain that 2nd part?
Does MW only boot if IW is in the drive?
