It just came out today.
Not sure how long before the game it takes place, but (as I do with every book) I read the last paragraph and I'm guessing the book ends right where the game starts.
From what I've learned on Twitter, it does reveal what Peter does as a job, which in turn basically gives away who his mentor is, despite never actually saying the mentor's name (apparently it's pretty easy to figure out after a quick process of elimination). The author, David Liss, said on Twitter that the book does NOT contain any direct spoilers for anything in the game (other than Pete's job, obvs).
I have no idea if I want to read this before or after I play the game. I'll probably end up reading it before.Boston Red Sox

For the few people interested in the book, from the author:
As someone who both wrote the book and read the game script, I can tell you that there are NO SPOILERS. The book takes place before the game and reveals nothing beyond characters & world at the start of the game. We made a point of making sure there were no spoilers.Boston Red Sox

All the talk the last day or so by some of you guys about taking off time to play the game when it comes out is making me jealous lol. I cant wait for the game but I known I am not going to have a lot of time to play. I just started school up again yesterday and I am taking 4 classes. Tuesday and Thursday I will be gone all day and I mean all day. Yesterday with it being the first day I left a little earlier than I normally would to make sure I could find my classes but even now with not having to leave extra early both days I will be leaving at 11 am and by the time I get home and take a shower and get lunch like made for the next day it will be like 10:45-11:15 pm. Than I will be working 3-4 days a week and than there is still home work to do. So I will have like maybe 1 real free day. Heck the week the game comes out NFL starts to the day before that is and that means I am going to have to record football that night when I am in class and depending on HW and my schedule that Friday I will most likely be either watching the football game from Thursday on Friday or doing HW. Than once we get to like mid October and I am dealing with school and also trying to watch NBA, NFL, NHL I am really going to have no time to play.Comment
