The chapters are pretty short so it feels like you fly through it. I've sat down to read it twice, and I'm on Chapter 16, pretty close to halfway done.

The only exception is that if I get more done between 9 and 4 than anyone else in the building. Then consider the work I did from 4 to 5 as "DLC" work and pay me a bonus.
I see it more as you can be paid the going rate and be productive as a worker, or you can be paid more and your employer will get more production out of you.

You can pay $60 and get a complete game. If you pay $80, you get more.

It'd be interesting to see the reaction if nothing else. I don't even know how it would look.

"Man **** Zack Snyder, can you believe he withheld all of this extra content and didn't immediately put the Directors Cut in theaters?"

So yeah, you are getting what you paid for.
This is where I fall. Most games, I'm cool with waiting on a decent sale and getting everything at one time. I rarely buy games at launch. But for certain titles, like RDR2, and Spiderman, GOW (if theres DLC) games I know I'm gonna enjoy the universe of I'm fine buying the base game and DLC later. I also like supporting single player content. I grabbed Origins on a whim last year not knowing what to expect. I was blown away. I grabbed both DLC the day they released as I enjoyed the universe. One DLC was 10$ and the other 20$, I think. I spent close to 100$ on a game in had no real intention of getting.

Paying for DLC post launch is fine when it's actually post launch...if you can release DLC 1 month after the game's release then that means you withheld content and are double dipping from the players.

I did have it preordered, but now I guess I'll just wait for some kind of bundle/sale later on where I can purchase the full game at 1 time.
I don't understand why people take it that way. So they had a team developing additional content to the game for DLC while the game was being made. That does not mean they withheld content. That means they made a game and a separate team worked on DLC.

The only reason anyone should be bothered by this is if the main game were to be very short (say 8 hours or such) and the DLC was being released at the same time but that is not the case here.

I know this for fact because the only way a developer can promise content related dlc 1 month after launch is if they spent development resources on it while working on the 'base' game. Any time you buy a game, whether it is the initial release or a later expansion you should be paying for the development cycle of it. The fact that many companies in the industry are moving to this pay 'model' does not make it any less exploitive.

If you really want to talk about things that are 'sad' then we do need to talk about this bull crap (I agree with your terminology 100%) because that is exactly what it is. It truly is ok to bash a good product when the business behind it is bull crap.

The trade in argument is null unless you trade in within the first month of owning the game. If you do then yeah there isn't any real benefit to waiting. If you are the type of person to hang onto a game for a few months then the trade value doesn't matter. The biggest hit on value you take will be when you take it out of the plastic. After that the decreases are very negligible.

So when you go to buy a new car do you refuse to buy it because they offer a BOSE stereo upgrade to the cars regular car stereo that comes in it?

Do you scream at the dealer that they shorted you on the stereo because the BOSE was available all along and they didn't put that in the car and you're getting shorted?

I mean that way of thinking makes no sense at all to me.

Additional content is not simply additional because of when it was developed. It is additional content because it is outside of what is considered to be the main storyline and the regular game. The only way anyone should be annoyed or upset by it being announced now is if the main game is overly short and they are selling DLC to make it what the community considers to be a regular game in regards to play time.

Just because the DLC was developed concurrently with the game means nothing other than in how you are choosing to view it and that's it...

I'm going to wait for the Pro to get in and likely won't be able to play until late that night.

I want to get this game on digital and sell the physical copy I get from the Pro bundle. But I don't want to play digital on the standard PS4. I want to experience the full 4K from the jump.

Does anyone know from experience if the games come wrapped? Have they been able to sell a physical copy from a bundle at close to retail value without issue? I know I won't get $60 for it.

But I think I should get like $50-55.

I will say kudos to them for making the game a very health ~20 hours long. However, there isn't some maximum number of content hours a game can have at launch, and the only reason you can call it "additional" content is because they are releasing it as such.

Is it really "additional" content when they inserted aspects of it into that base game? I'm still interested in seeing how in people's minds this doesn't qualify as cut content. What makes this DLC any different from other side missions that were developed at the same time?

I'm surprised that no one brought up the new car analogy before this. It's one of those frequently brought up counter arguments anytime early DLC gets brought up that is just as frequently debunked. If you buy the base V8 Chevy Camaro at $30k then you're not entitled to the decked out V8 version with the Bose sound and leather seats that would otherwise cost you $40k because they have very different cost structures. Chevy could be the most consumer friendly company in existence and it still wouldn't be the same because they are just different cars with very different expenses for the seller. Cloth vs. Leather, bose stereo vs. whatever stock stereo the base has, racing transmission vs. non, high performance exhaust vs. not, backup camera vs. standard stereo head unit, etc. The additional cost incurred by Insomniac games here is because they made a conscious decision to carve out parts of what they were already working and call that a separate project.
