Sorry dude, no can do on the first part of the advice you gave me. The "fringe benefits" are too good if you know what I mean...

Anyhow, an update to this situation. After talking it over with her, we've agreed to go ahead and let me get it, based on the premise that I'm going to trade in a BUNCH of my old XBox games to get as much store credit as possible first.

My next question is this...should I splurge for the newer smaller PS2 or should I just go with one of the old used ones?

If you're just getting this PS2 for a couple games, I'd say get the "old" PS2.

Get the new one, because the old one will die quicker.

Used PS2's don't last very long.

Actually, I was seriously thinking of selling my GameCube. The only games I play on it are retro anthologies, and games that are also available on other systems. Not the PS2 though. I need that for my SOCOM II fix, my GTA fix, my old PS1 rpgs, and in case EA screws up an Xbox port like with NCAA Football 2005.

Hey, if you can "hold out" longer than she can, perhaps you could use that as leverage for a PS2. That's what I do sometimes, because I know my wife can't go 1 week without it, and certainly won't resort to relieving herself in times of need like I do. "You know, I really haven't been in the mood ever since you squashed the idea of me getting a PS2."

You my friend are in for a long and miserable life. When she 'lets you' do anything. You may be with her for the 'fringe' benefits. But when you are married (and old) those benefits will not be enough. Especially if she's as controlling as you're portraying her.

                      Good Luck!
