Can someone describe this game for me? What makes it different from other FPS games. I never played the first one.

You mean the first two. Ghost Recon Island Thunder followed Ghost Recon.

Ghost Recon is a tactical shooter. It's not a run-and-gun shooter like Counter Strike or Unreal Tournament or even Halo.

You need to be tactical and follow some military sense to succeed. This is a one-shot, one-kill kind of game in many instances.

The maps also are quite big, unlike the close urban combat of Rainbow Six 3. So you can be crouching along in an open field and see no one and get picked off by a sniper who's 200 yards away.

Very tactical, very supenseful, very fun. The best of the Tom Clancy franchises for the consoles, by far, in my opinion.

You might not be getting quite the same Ghost Recon that everyone loved before.

"Unlike the first game, the missions aren't about creeping around, scouting for the enemy, and trying to snipe before they see you. Ghost Recon 2 is more geared towards capturing the thrill of a heated firefight. But bullets are just as lethal, so you can't rely on hit points and health kits to get you through a battle. Instead, you have to rely on your teammates."

Personally I really liked that aspect of creeping around, and having to sit and wait at times made it different from all the other FPS that I'd play. Now it sounds like it might just be trying to turn into socom or something.

That sucks,cause i rented island thunder this weekend and had a blast...I really enjoyed the stategic feel of the game compared to games like halo and unreal.
