    Re: Red Dead Redemption 2

When I tracked down the Legendary Boar, it just ran from me so I just kept chasing after it in the marshlands. I know I didn't need a clean kill, but it's fun to try anyway so I went for the lasso. It was a bit too fast for that, but eventually it just ran itself to death. It kept running until it just keeled over and died. Can't get more perfect of a kill than that!

Sounds like me anytime I have to run.

Man I'm only in the camp near Rhodes (chapter 3 I believe) because I've been doing a bunch of side quests, and taking it slow just savoring it all. I should probably start knocking out these story missions otherwise after RDRO launches I may procrastinate big time on the story. Made that mistake with GTAV. Was only like 50% finished when GTAO launched and took me about 2 years to complete the story after that lol.

          Re: Red Dead Redemption 2

Finished the main story last night...then like 10 min into the epilogue I decided to do some exploring of areas I had yet to visit...and fell down a cliff injuring my horse...to make matters worse I didn't have anything to revive him. Stuck in the wild with practically nothing but the clothes on my back.

I have to start killing birds more just to craft different kinds of arrows, though.
What would be awesome is requiring antivenom to stop the effects of snake bites. If you don't administer the antivenom within like 5 in game hours you'll die, meanwhile, before you do, you start being sluggish and vision is impaired and the bite location swells up. And btw sucking out snake venom doesn't work irl, and is highly dangerous to the person doing it, especially if he has even the slightest cut in his mouth, which most people do, some of the foods we all know and love cause abrasions in the mouth, most are tiny, but that's all it takes. /end ramble

This does happen in-game, at least with the poisonous snakes. Vision gets impaired in the way that the screen gets that purple/orange look as your health deteriorates. So far the only plant that I know of which serves as an antivenom is ginseng.

And snakes? I'm pretty sure I've only seen maybe 3 the entire time I've played the game.
Update, I've found one rattlesnake since this post. And it bit me. So now I'm poisoned and I have a snake skin that I can't even use.

Again...one rattlesnake. In about 6 hours of playing. After looking up where to find snakes. One rattlesnake.

I don't "hunt" for snakes, but I'd say when roaming around get off the trail more. I turn off GPS for this very reason and try and "get lost" in my wandering. If I happen upon a snake, well... there it is then.

There were at least three occasions last night where I ran into snakes and was consciously aware of the fact after typing out my last response post about them. One of them I tracked and tried to kill, only to stumble upon another one (which I ultimately did exactly that).

I haven't taken many back to camp though, maybe because it's too far out of the way when I get them.

Oh, and as I just said in my last post, you can definitely use ginseng to counter snakebite poisoning.

Yeah, now I'm trying to find ginseng.

Now that I'm done with the story and just have all that stuff to do, this game isn't nearly as fun. It's still really good, but I'm not sure how much time I want to dedicate to finding woodpeckers and badgers and gila monsters and looting bodies and houses for earrings and bracelets.

I totally get what you mean. That's why I'm going uber slowly (still in Chapter 2). I would not enjoy wanting to get 100% or something just through hunting, looting and collecting. I need a narrated drive to keep me going.

I'm sure that RDR:O will bring you back though!

Nah, I don't play anything online.

I'll probably get what I need to get all the legendary animal outfits, then shelf this one.

Feel like my experience with the game to this point completely different from so many here. The urge to fire up the game just isn't there for me, and when I do play, it feels like a chore. I don't find my time spent to be all that fun, and overall Red Dead 2 has been a massive disappointment.
