Finding all the different in-game systems I am forced to keep track of a bit much. Pile on trying to remember what button does what and I feel totally overwhelmed at times. Was hoping to use the game as a distraction from some real life stuff going on at the moment, but will have to put it in the back burner until I can play with a clear mind not already cluttered with other things. Hoping it all becomes clearer and a more enjoyable experience then.

Totally with you on this. I have felt way more overwhelmed than I imagined I would. As such, there's been times where I've had to step away from the game just to refresh a little.

My hunch is that things will settle down and slow down once I get the hang of everything, but I imagine it's going to take quite a few hours more to get to that point. As of right now, I am enamored with the game but somehow exhausted at the same time. Kind of a unique experience.

The Horse heart icon switches to something else that's red, can't really tell what it is? Means horse needs to eat or what?

You mean the brush? If that, he needs to be brushed or ride him through water for a little bit.

Man, these townfolks are a little too friendly with law enforcement. I bumped some lady with my horse and four eyewitnesses started heading for the sheriff. Its like they're competing to be top snitch.

Looks like Master Hunter challenge 5 is where things are gonna get interesting:

Skin 3 Black or Grizzly Bears. I haven't even seen one aside from the legendary an early mission tells you about. And it was a bit of an adventure actually killing that one - I just got the last killing shot off before it mauled me.

I'm sure I'll run across them sooner or later.

The controlling is pretty much exactly what I expect from rock star. I guess I’m just used to it between all the gtas and red dead. I’m totally fine with it. I’ve just got so used to the wheel system that it’s second nature at this point.

I just started chapter 2 earlier today and it keeps getting better. I do agree with the person above that said you are kind of at a disadvantage if you don’t bang out some missions early on. I know the temptation to free roam is real but you are constantly unlocking things for the first 20 hours of play and probably even beyond that I’m guessing.

One of those games that you just get lost in. I’ll look up and it’s been 3 hours, without so much as a sniff of a mission.

Loving this world more than I thought, enjoying the slower pace too. I totally agree with those who have noted this. If you are looking to rush and “beat” the game, you’re going to miss out on what really makes this unique.

Oh FWIW, I think the game looks terrific on the Pro with HDR on

I was so impressed that the horse actually gets dirty on screen lol. Was wondering why my black horse was turning brown.

Yeah people are saying it looks better with HDR off. Honestly it's the first game that I haven't been blown away by the graphics since I got my Samsung and the Pro. Going to turn HDR off next time I load it up. Hopefully it can be addressed in a patch.

I'm on the Pro and I switched HDR off after a few hours in. With it on, to me it looks like there's a hazy fog... maybe this is what others have called "washed out".

I feel like this game rewards methodical, careful and deliberate behavior with regards to player and horse control. I've played about 18 hours this weekend and haven't had an issue beyond a nudge against someone resulting in their scoffing at me with a verbal warning.

One of those games that you just get lost in. I’ll look up and it’s been 3 hours, without so much as a sniff of a mission.

I hear ya. I've been so engrossed it's easy to lose track of time. I've spent about 90% of my time on free roam, and the other 10 on story & side missions, and a couple of bounties. I am so glad fast travel is not available to me yet. There may come a time where I want fast travel, but I'm not there yet. There have been so many times where I just stop in my tracks and admire the landscape....

A few more attention to detail moments that I've been impressed with:

Stalking in a plateau, I saw some rustling in the distance. I crept forward and it was two whitetail bucks fighting. For a moment I thought they had their antlers locked up, but as I advanced, the victor ran away, and the loser paid the ultimate price. I found his dead body and went ahead and skinned it.

Very cool that when you and your horse fall, that things can come loose off of your horse. Took a spill and had to gather up and re-attach my duck carcass.

I just recently found that I can store clothes outfit sets on my horse. Now I carry three outfits- for each of hot, average, and cold climates.

When I climbed atop Face Rock, I literally parked myself there for at least 10 minutes, just taking in the beautiful panorama. It's not even that high of a peak at all, but the view it affords in all directions was captivating. I gazed out across Flat Iron Lake..... watched peacefully as a locomotive wheeled past..... and glassed in the distance with my binoculars at the rooftops of some large town I haven't visited yet (Saint Denis, I assume).

I just passed 2 guys who were just riding together and come upon a 3rd guy who fixing his horses shoe. I moved closer to greet him and all of a sudden the horse kick the **** out of him killing him and it scared the hell out of me. The other 2 guys also stopped and looked while the horse ran away and Authur then said got damn and I just bust out laughing

I feel like this game rewards methodical, careful and deliberate behavior with regards to player and horse control. I've played about 18 hours this weekend and haven't had an issue beyond a nudge against someone resulting in their scoffing at me with a verbal warning.

I was chasing a squirrel perpendicularly to a road that a passerby was riding along. When I stabbed the squirrel to death, I'm suddenly shot at by the guy. I guess the game thought I was gesturing a stabbing motion in a way that the guy saw as a threat. Needless to say, I got a nice one-shot kill without any witnesses. Felt pretty good.

I really like this wanted system though, at least in terms of there being a physical witness, an actual investigation, and a proper reporting with another investigation. What I also like is if the witness doesn't see you do it or if you aren't sought out in time by law enforcement that you can get away without having to pay a bounty.

What I need to see next is if NPC's can be hunted possibly, getting someone to fight me in front of an officer or something. I was also thinking about putting predator bait near a guy at a campsite to see if like a bear would just show up and maul him lol, but that'll take some time to configure.

It's these kinds of things that I'm spending my time doing more than anything else, and I love it.
