It almost without a doubt will not be this. This will be a Naughty Dog linear story/action game, which is fine. They do it very well. I was talking more about just leaving Joel/Ellie's story as it was because I thought it was perfect.

Thank goodness. Someone else can make a game like that -- I don't want to see ND stray from the formula the made the first one great.

I understand what you mean about the story in the first on ending on a perfect note. They really didn't need to revisit Ellie and Joel at all because of that, but I'm glad that they are. They know they have a lot to live up to with this game -- hopefully they deliver again.

Not sure how I feel about this. I loved the way TLOU ended, and enjoyed the open-ended aspect which led to a lot of good conversations.

I don't know if I want to know how Joel and Ellie's stories continue past those ending credits. May have preferred exploring another story in the same world.

That being said, I'm sure they'll get the continuing story of these two characters right.

I'm with you. Outside of the money (which I totally get), I don't really see why a sequel was necessary here.

I was part of the camp that wanted a sequel, but following someone else in another part of the country/world. Like say following the whole story of Ish or just someone new completely.


But, Angry 5 years later Ellie has me hooked. (Druckmann stated Ellie is 19 now so its about 5 years since the end of TLoU)

I actually love the idea of continuing the story. Adding a simple yet so awesome "Part II" to TLOU is just brilliant. It's not a sequel but rather a continuation of where Part I ended. The story could easily continue. Look at what Marlene and the Fireflies wanted to do. That's easy motivation for Ellie if she didn't know that she had to be sacrificed. Can't wait!!!

Not really because there's been a lot of games that had sequels but yet, had nothing to do with the original game, characters and story. Watch Dogs 2 is a perfect example. It's a sequel but yet, it has nothing to do with the original Watch Dogs, story and characters in any way, shape or form. It's only a sequel in name/title.

Take Resident Evil 3: Nemesis as another example. It's not really a sequel to Resident Evil 2. Code Veronica is the true sequel to Resident Evil 2.

Point is that when sequels get "numbered", that doesn't always mean that it's a direct sequel to the original game. Plus, with sequels, it's rarely if ever a continuation because all the characters from the first game are normally dead.

In TLOU Part II, that's not the case as Marlene is alive and well as are the rest of the fireflies which truly makes it a continuation of the original game as opposed to a sequel that could have had different characters and locale which would make it a sequel in only name/title ala Watch Dogs 2.

That trailer was great. I'm hoping they manage to release it late next year but can understand if it doesn't release until 2019.
